Now that you know his true identity, you have to be shot.

Seriously if it is anything like God of Cookery or Shaolin soccer it has got to be amazing (I sometimes ask myself why I have not seen it)... but if you haven't seen either of those earlier movies I would check them out as well... they are probably not as polished as kung fu hustle but are still pretty hilarious...

Hmm, someone else who's seen God of Cookery, eh? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif
Anyways, yeah, I've seen all three of the movies you mentioned, and while I probably enjoy God of Cookery the most (the subs I saw made it funnier as well), the other two movies are still quite decent.

But yeah, see Kung Fu Hustle... when next the chance arrives.

My boss has a DVD copy from China, which he was supposed to give to me to watch instead of spending $9.50 at the theater nearby the workplace. We talked about Shaolin soccer before and he kept me updated on Kung Fu Hustle/Stephen chow movies.

Its been some time now and I haven't gotten the DVD from em.

I could have watched Kung Fu Hustle in the theater.

The only theaters that play em now are in San Francisco, so it'll be a whole day used up right there(with much expenses)-which could be worth it.

And err, the record store had a copy, but not a region 1 DVD, ah fiddlesticks!

Anyone know the release date(of region 1 DVD version)?!

On a related note, we just rentedKung Fu Mahjong (http:////http://www.lovehkfilm.com/reviews_2/kung_fu_mahjong.htm). Just came out recently over here, so it's gonna be all Chinese and I won't understand it! Yay! But I'll get to see some people play Mahjongg and get the hell beat out of them. So that's cool.

Kung Fu Mahjong. Sounds self-contradicting, in terms of violence.

Arislan

You've obviously never played Mahjongg. When you've got Reach (one tile from winning) and you're playing fish (basically, you win double, but pay double) and someone Kan's on you then pulls their winning tile from the dead wall, you feel plenty of violence ready to come on.

And yes, that just mixed Japanese and Chinese rulesets. Which goes to show how complex Mahjongg is. And how violent. Take it from me, Nan Fong slammed on the index finger hurt.

Oh man... I haven't played Mahjong in forever... I think the problem is that the tile set I own weighs so much so I don't bring it with me anywhere... Extra Thick Awesome Tiles!!!! HOW THICK IS YOUR MAHJONG???!!!

betting rules in mahjong are weird though... because its not really a bet as i remember. its there is a minimum ammount you could lose but this is multiplied by the score dut dut dut... (variation is scoring systems yadda yadda) its weird.

Mahjong was the popular pasttime of the rich during the early 1920s.
