Update: not gone, but a few files are giving me Cyclic redundancy errors. This drive is dead from the standpoint of doing any major work on it, but I've got good news.

I just saved a bunch of money on my hard disk by requesting an RMA from Western Digital since its under warranty!

current status: CHKDSK again

PrinceBrightstar
Aug 22, 2005, 07:17 PM
current status: backup finished, except for current .pst for outlook, partitions destroyed, single partition made, format...eventually worked. chkdsk now running to look for bad sectors and mark bad. final bad sector count will determine what is done with drive.

chkdsk fails around sector 100,000. running data lifguard, fails at around sector 100,000. writing all 0s to drive. has avoided crash at stated sector, however appears to have crashed at sector 6357247. will continue working with drive until 11.

I finaly got around to it and took out 64MB of RAM that was infecting my computer. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

With my measly 48MB of RAM, I can't even install my software CD from a brand spanking new Printer/Scanner/Copier I was given a deal on. $50.

It needs a minimum of 54MB, which is nothing when like 256MB RAM goes for less than $50, so I gotta go do that, get more RAM. And probably a computer from this decade. Heh. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

And now you know, (what you didn't even need or want to know, Fanta).
