I know this probably isnt possible but...
I heard from somewhere that there is a way you can be able to use your DC pso Chara on the GC. Is there any truth to this?
Thanks.

Yeah, by making them over again =^.-=
(Probably no conversion will be available)

There is no way to convert your DC character to the 'Cube, sorry http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
If they did, it'd allow tons of illegitimate and high-level characters to plague the GameCube PSO from thevery start.
And that's reason enough to make them not even want to make such a conversion tool.

The only true reason is that they don't friggin' care about us, and the amount of our time we have invested in this game.

I think its good that we have to start over, beins that we arent level, 200 anymore at the very beginning of the game and can do everything already

I feel that the two being not compatible is a good and bad idea. Good because, as stated earlier, no one will have any illegitimate weapons and players. However, I think it is bad because of the time we put in. Not all of us made it to lvl 200, I didn't and probably won't by the time I get one of the new PSOs coming out. On top of that we are getting it later than the Japanese. I think if Sonic Team really wanted to allow us to convert the DC chars they could have come up with something. Oh well, can't win all the time.

I was thinking there probably is a possible way. You can download your file on the internet, then get it on the Gamecube. I dought this is possible

it probably isn't due to the different file types for the gc and dc mem cards.

I disagree, people will exploit it. Everyone crys out for Cheat Free GC PSO, allowing one to convert their character won't help. Besides, what fun would it be to explore episode one and 2 if you don't do it from the begining. Look at games like the FF series, it takes forever to build the perfect party yet you loose it all every game. Now while one would not spend nearly the same amount of time on FF as PSO the analogy still holds. Sega wants us to experience the title from the begining and with out cheats. They want everyone to be on the same page from the get go and I hardly see a problem with that.

I just hope there isn't any cheating by the time I get my copy on the US release.

I think its a good idea not to convert the characters over for the same reasons as above less cheating, but will anyone be getting rid of their DC characters when the new game comes out?

I wont but I dont really have a need to. I never play my DC anymore.

Is that an excuse to strip me from my thousands of hours I put in leveling my 8 chars ?
Why deprive me in that way ?
Why would they think I cannot make new characters in GC PSO (esp. with new classes),
and discover the new parts of the game with them ?
Sega wants us to experience the title from the begining and with out cheats.
That is utter stupidity. Just because something looks like a good idea is not a reason to FORCE IT down our throats.
I find it quite insulting too. What do they take us for ? 5 years old prone to rush to the end of the game as fast as possible ?
Cheats ? I'm not talking about importing weaps and armors. I'm talking about my leveled chars.
They want everyone to be on the same page from the get go and I hardly see a problem with that.
Fine with me. Like I said, as long as they don't deprive us or force us.
THERE ARE ALWAYS SOLUTIONS.
example : importing of DC chars allowed 2 month after the launch of the game. 3 month for chars of lvl above 150.
Since the import of chars would go through them, they would have absolute control about how, when, and how often it'd be allowed.
They just don't care.

Mostly all good points. However if they wanted us all to be on the same page then GC PSO should be released to EVERYONE on the same frelling day!!! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_mad.gif Besides, Im not in the mood to have to go through Episode 1 again in the same fashion as the DC version. IF they could maybe they should just send only the leveled character, no weapons, no meseta, no mag, JUST the character. But we all know it's not happening. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Nobody is stripping anything away from you in this case, you can stil play with those eight characters on your Dreamcast (unless it broken or something).
The only thing they are "depriving" anyone from is taking characters (both legit and illegitimate) cross-platform. If they did allow this, they'd be opening thier doors to hackers and illegitimate players, completely contradicting what they've been trying to accomplish all this time with the server upgrades and maintainance.
Another thing about this is game balance. The character's stat growth and development are almost (if not) completely diferent than that of the Dreamcast versions', and people would end up with character stats that were balanced differently and may exceed the new maximum for certain stats.
It would be impossible for them to recalculate the stats too, because they would have no way of knowing how many materials the characters have used, if any.

Like I said, the only way to do transfer a char in to upload it to ST to make the conversion.
Hence, they have FULL CONTROL about how, in what way, under which rules, when, how often this would be allowed.Including how stats and other things must be modified.
It would be impossible for them to recalculate the stats too, because they would have no way of knowing how many materials the characters have used, if any.
This argument is ludicrous.
It also shows you do not know the game's mechanics well.
Your Stats, for example ATP, depends on 2 things: your level, and the number of power mats used.
To know the amount of mats a char did use, substract the amount of atp gained only by leveling.
Besides, when the server decides that your char has a recorded time too much different from it (back-up char or from serious server screw-up), it re-initializes your char.
That is, your char reverts back to like it
never had any mats or learnt any techs.
This state could be used to transfer the char to GC, amongst any other rules and modifications ST would seem fit to GC's balance.

There actually should be no aruement and quite honestly the bitching is old. Everyone should take GameCube PSO as heaven scent, as new life brought to PSO, i know a lot of you worked hard to bring your characters over lvl 100 and beyond, but see Episode 2 as good and new. I mean what harm would it be starting a new character for this sole purpose, creating and staring a new character is what this PSO saga and game is all about. I knew when i first popped my PSO into my Dreamcast, I was surely filled with delight once my character broke lvl 1, and breaking lvl 100 was even better, so why not start all over. See you guys on-line when GC PSO:eps1&2 comes out!! Latez!!
