Hmm.
Thinktank, empty info here?

My Sony NET-MD player is full of faults.

I understand the whole lost-tech about it and all, but c'mon. This thing is filled with glaring design errors. Great it looks nice, but I should have loooked up info about it instead of jumping to buy it when I saw the clearance price tag.

It rapes my battery life while simply transferring files.

It should have really used the USB port for battery during these music file transfers.

I have a flash player that does music file transfers without raping the battery life.

I read about a 3/4 a dozen reviews of flash and HD(hard drive)digital audio players online for the past hour or so; none mentioned battery usage during file transfers.

I'm thinking the ones with the rechargable batteries are much better for this use.

This Net MD Sony player is like a futuristic cassette player. The mini discs pop out like cassettes. The discs are encased like 3.5" floppies. they were hard as heck to find too. Checked out a few stores and finally found some on a shelf, cheap as heck, but with only 2 packs left.

Maybe I should have bought both, seeing as how hard these things are to find. And it will last me plenty long enough, having 8 in a pack, with colors(!) and 300MB it says per disc, but that sounds like less than a 700MB CD-R(W).

The interface to transfer files over to the player isn't very intuitive and takes some time to use even with a fast computer. You can't edit the bitrate on the file transfer from CD's past 132 k/b and that makes the music a bit tinny.

How lame is that?!

I should just scrap this thing, based solely on the fact that it rapes my battery life just to transfer over the music to the discs, and you need to have the player on and connected before transferring any files to the discs.

The new Sony flash drive players are things of beauty though.

Really tiny, 1.6 ounces, they look like flasks or keychain bobble thingies. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

The volume controls and menu options look very hard to use being only a knob on the end used like an analog watch wheel to change the time of minutes and hours. Three variations of degree of movement when pulled out to turn.

But the display looks surprisingly nice and was stated in the reviews to be very sleek and easy to read, even being inset into the player and not an LCD screen, and of the same color.

For now theres Pink, Blue, Black and Silver, not much choice there, but surpirisingly the same amount apple iPODs have, besides the green. bubble screensaver like display as well, which was the reviewer's favorite display instead of the time/memory left/time remaning or elapsed in the song.

My lil bro showed me a green iPOD mini he is going to buy from his friend, that he was borrowing. He said about $50 to $60 cuz the kid wants a NANO. Which costs about the same but for way less memory- but a (tiny as heck)color screen. Darn spoiled kids.

What was this about again, hello Bungee950, welcome to FKL. There are rules here, so don't get too comfortable. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
