I went downstairs this morning and into the kitchen only to find over 20 wasps clinging to the back porch door and several more all over the windows. Thankfully, they were all on the outside, but that's not the problem.
I have no clue why they were doing this. They were staying perfectly still, even when I shook the door to try and get them to stir. I stood there for a little while, just watching them, and every so often a single wasp would start to dance around in a circle, its thorax pulsing wildly, and it would suddenly fly off VERY URGENTLY. They all did this and in about 15 minutes, most of them were gone. I've never heard of anything like this happening, much less seen it myself.
It was a big WTF moment. Makes noooo sense whatsoever to me.
