No, it wasn't a double battle but now I'm pissed since I have no idea how to get out. =/

I'm not sure if I save then come back if the trainers will be in the original spots.

Leave and go down the stairs. There are two sailors walking around. Feel free
to try to get them in a Double Battle, but it's not the end of the world if you
can't. If you do, it may look like you're stuck, but you can step down so
you're behind the crates.
