Since PSO GC last days won't be a while (a couple of months) how were DC's last days? Did Sega allowed all quests online to be downloadable? Was there a big bang before they closed? etc.
Just curious since pretty much everyone is anticipating PSU now (except me I guess =) ) and I'm hoping Sega will do something for GC last days...
If I remember correctly, the last 2 weeks or month was free-to-play on V2. Almost all of the quests were up. Still, not many people played. I was online during that final month and I was lucky to see more than 60 people online at any one time. Most people were waiting for GC PSO to come out at the end of that month.

Is it official that GC PSO will be taken off in a couple of months?
I was there for the last month of DC PSO. I have to say, there was almost no one I could find to play with.

There have not been any official announcements made about the GC servers being shutdown.

if/when there is one soon, where could i find it out?
If we hear anything, I'm sure you'll see a story about it on the front page. Also, there will likely be a few threads regarding the matter.

How about downloadable quests? Were there any at that time?

Still seems to be a high amount of JP players still, but when the winter comes, we'll see that number SERIOUSLY decline due to the release of the JP PSU.

If I remember correctly, Soul of Steel, Lionel's Letter, and Soul of a Blacksmith were available to download for V2. I know JP players were also able to download quests such as Central Fire Swirl and another Rappy-themed quests whose name escapes me You were able to obtain various mag cells and the Chu Chu Armor from it.

The PAL servers are still running and are free on the DC. I still play it and so do quite a few others.
I'm expecting something similar for GC PSO

I dn't personally think tha they will become free. If the US server closes the the EU might as well shut down (nooo)
JP won't imo as it still gets some players.

But back to the initial question here.
I remember pulling my dreamcast out of the closet for the night the servers were supposed to close close up shop. Oberon was just crazy that night, Hackers trying to PK and NOL everything in sight, People running around the lobby all night yelling, "5....4....3....2....1..." In leau of our impending doom.
I stayed up all night so say my final goodbye, even finding a few old friends on my card list. And then.....nothing.
They didnt even shut them down until two or three days later, but I played during those days too. I almost cried when my dreamcast gave me the news, "Unable to Connect to Server."
(Anyway thats my story....)

Yea its a shame they wont be keeping them around very much longer, but the impending doom was to come sooner or later. With all the FSODing and AR people it was the main reason i left and went to XBOX. At least Microsoft runs those servers and will keep them going.

I doubt they'll be taking it down for a while... you know why?
REVOLUTION. ONLINE CAPABILITIES. GAMECUBE PLAYBACK. WHOOT.
At least a another year or 2.

That might be true. I don't know if Sega wants to reuse those servers since they are pretty old by now.

Ahahaha, I'm sorry, that is simply hilarious. I guess that is the Sonic Team we all know and love though, hm?
I remember trying to get on the last day, but I couldn't find my DC PSO game, and still can't to this day. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif I only have my Version 2 still with me.

I missed out on the last days of DC PSO cause I fried my DC while playin PSO. I had traded a H Pun w/some1 and was gonna grab my Ult char to show them what the special did. I was playin late @night and my wife and son were sleepin. In order to play quietly, I put several blankets and a pillow or two on top of my DC to quiet the sound of the disk spinning and searching for the data. It turns out that it overheated, and would not spin fast enuff to read anything. I was stuck on the PSO loading screen in disbelief after I had realized what I had done. I have it boxed up and all ready to be shipped off to SEGA to be fixed. I have had it that way for the past 3+ years. . . .

You can still play PSO online in the US as there are custom servers now. I did not play the DC version online at the end as the cheaters/hackers ruined PSO online play so I stopped playing PSO online.
I have PSO on the GC and Xbox now also and tried playing it online on the xbox but the cheaters/hackers were still ruining the game so I cancelled it. I play PSO offline only these days. The only thing I really miss is the online only quests and Gallon's Shop. But not having to worry about getting PK'ed and the like make up for the other stuff.

And this will really be the end.

I collected as many rare dupes I could get and said goodbye to a Japanese friend.

I remember during the last few days me and a few other people who used to battle in Miranda 7 were going to set up a BA torney to commemorate the end of DC PSO. It wasn't anything fancy, just a spur of the moment type thing. There were about 10-14 or so of us in one of the soccer lobbies talking about it for hours. But... we never got around to doing it http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I think that was my last night on DC PSO...

I would say that they ruin the game only if you let them. I play w/very few of those types. I play pretty much only on the legit ships and try to help ppls as much as I can w/Challenge Mode.

I might be able to get on those if I have the EU version of psov2. I might since my us codebreaker codes didnt work. Its pretty neat playing on DC, even though I've had GC and PC before it.

Until you realized how lonely a world PSO is offline right?
