does anybody have any ideas for special rec. lobbies. Like the soccer lobby in PSO, i would like to see a Race track for vehicles. and Odin... though Ramars have shoulder pads, i think football would be hard to pull off. but it would be mundo cool is PSU had its own futuristic sport. and make a team for it (like a clan) and be on tounamet boards and such. (why did i just think of Blitzball and IGPX)

EDIT: OOO! i was just looking at the translated PSU vid and was thinking, what if they had a skate park lobby. ethan seems to use his hoverboard alot so its not too farfetched.

Youre mentioning football pads here? LOL That was a different topic. Still, the idea of a futuristic sport would be cool. Thats why I suggested those sandspeeder bikes for racing. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Sure they may just be mission based. But, from the small vid clips Ive seen, racing those would be great! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

A sport would be great, it would help you take the mind of the normal game if you're pissed off because you keep getting killed or a animal won't drop a weapon for you.

Actually, in Hyuga's profile, there's mention of a futuristic sport that he takes part in. Fraballu, I believe it's called. (Or something like that. I'm not sure how SonicTeam will translate it into English.)

I wonder how you play it, and what sport it's based off of??

A new sport would be super sweet! Anybody seen the movie Baseket Ball??? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I still say we should have sandspeeder races. Maybe if enough of us want it, theyll put it in as a playable mode? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Yes, racing would be hella cool. I can just imagine the brutal high speed crashes now http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif But if they have to put the release date back even further to get races into the game, then...

I think shoe football would be best (where you use a shoe instead of a football). Can you imagine like another team mate whipping the shoe across the field and you get a touchdown then do a victory dance at the endzone...

Maybe there could be a spherical dome of some sort filled with "breatheable water" and two teams would try and score with some kind of "blitz ball" That would be cool

Dont ever make the comparison of PS & FF like that! A FF sport in a PS game? Bad enough FFVI made mention of Espers... (sigh)

I never got to play blitz ball or whatever it's called. I just want some football (american football...not soccer) or some good old baseball.

I know what we can use for a catcher's mitt: Falz's ear. That thing would catch ANY pitch, outside or inside. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Baseball bat: Flows finger, that would hit any pitch, inside, outside, wild pitches...

LOL Funny stuff. But, the prob is Darkfalz & Olgaflow's bodies are pretty much gone. Ya we can joke about it. However, maybe on PSU's final boss we be more careful. Rip off body parts & save em for later. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Yes, I agree with Odin. Comparing a Final Fantasy game to a PS game...Please don't! If any sport in PSU is going to be a copy of something from FF, I'd rather it wasn't featured at all. Sorry, but I just am not a fan of Final Fantasy. Phantasy Star all the way! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Just a PS fan...

I'm sticking with my baseball idea no matter what. We could use like canes for bats and...baseballs for baseballs.

Did Final Fantasy come out before Phantasy Star...because if anyone hasn't noticed they both have the fantasy thing going on so maybe one was created with the other as a sample...

Yes and no... They were both in development at the same time, but Final Fantasy was released prior to Phantasy Star. However, Phantasy Star was available in the US and EU long before Final Fantasy made it out of Japan.

If you look at the two games (PS1 & FF1) side by side... they really don't have many similarities aside from the word "Fantasy" (even if PS has a different spelling) and being RPGs. Phantasy Star 1 was a much more grandeous game than FF1, offering a much stronger storyline and preset character (Alissa Landale vs. Figher), cutscenes, three full planets to explore, 3D dungeons w/ animated monsters, a variety of vehicles to drive, and of course - Phantasy Star was Sci-Fi Fantasy (inspired by Star Wars) while Final Fantasy was High Fantasy (D&D, JRR Tolken, ect). Just to name a few differences.

Though as both series grew - Sega and Square were obviously inspired partially by each other's work.

Id rather just blast some bad guys on the planet than ass about in the lobby all day.

Inspired? No, you mean Square STOLE things from other companies like Sega. The only reasong why FF got popular was because of VII. Alot of FF fans started on THAT game. Meanwhile, ppl were playing PS long before then. Ive played older PS & FF games so I can see where ppl would prefer 1 over the other. Ppl might pick on Sega for producing 'not as good' other RPG series, but, at least theyre original.

Odin.. Final Fantasy has ALWAYS been more popular than Phantasy Star. So what if most of it's current fans started with FFVII? Most of Phantasy Star's current fans started with Phantasy Star Online - and many of them don't even know that previous games in the series exist.

As for being original... well, as I said... ideas changed hands from company to company built on each other's successes. Not to mention that even though Phantasy Star (as a J-RPG series) might be highly original - it did borrow many of it's ideas and concepts from Star Wars. It's tradition... and it's carried out even in the modern PS series. I mean.. it's hard to refute that the Double Saber (twin brand, stag cutlery, ect) weren't inspired by Darth Maul's double light saber. The very fact that they use "Photons" so much is a dual reference. One to the Star Wars series (Photon = Light... Light Saber) and the other to previous games in the series (Photon = Light, as in, The Great Light... Light vs. Darkness).

I like that idea too. Going out and killing enemies will be A LOT more fun than playing baseball http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Who's up for blasting bad guys!?!

Hey, hey, hey! don't be like that towards baseball, to me it's not just a sport but a part of my life (that may sound pathetic but I can say that I have a sport I can play and that I like). Blasting some bad guys will be fun though.

If they were going to bring back lobby soccer, they should atleast use a decent soccer game engine, with passing and goalies and all the rest.

I never said there's anything wrong with baseball. I'm a fan of the sport...And the Twins are the only good sports franchise in Minnesota http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Baseball is great (and it would be in PSU) but I think that shooting the hell out of things with super-futuristic weapons is just a little funner.

we need sparrring rooms! but I suppose that would be battle.

Yeah sparring rooms would kick some ass! I think that rooms set aside for one-on-one combat would be better than a whole seperate mode for it. Stupid battle mode...
