Ok, I put this in Fan Works, since it's art related quite heavily.

For University, I have been given a trial assessment. Since im on Creative Digital Media (for me, a tech term for 'Games Design'), this is quite fun.

My assignment is to create a brief for a proposed game, based only on the word 'face'. We have also been allowed to use the abbreviation 'F.A.C.E'. From this, we have to create a storyline, gametype, proposed stages, character sketches, the whole works.

I've been thinking of a working title, which I'm not too happy with yet, but heh. So far, it's 'Feline Assassin: Covert Expertise'.

I've just thrown out some random ideas. This is what I have so far:

-Stealth based, adventure game.
-Cel-shaded
-Incorporates elements of games such as Ratchet & Clank, Metal Gear Solid, possibly the style of humour in Timesplitters.
-Main character is a half-cat assassin, uses technology such as grappling hooks, smokescreens etc.
-Pickups around maps (thinking something stupid like Kitty Treats http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif) Collect enough of these to unlock abilities such as temporary invisibility, double jump height, heat vision.

Ive drawn up a rough of the main character, who is yet to be named. However, I'm not happy with it, and am going to change a lot. I may post the re-done version.

Basically, now I'm a little stuck. The enemy needs drawing out. Obviously, a cat's enemy in cartoons is usually a dog. Because of this, I'm thinking of using guard dogs as grunts, who can detect by various different methods.

What I now need is something new. I have some ideas for the grappling hook, such as overuse of it snapping the cord, or not being able to latch onto certain surfaces. This should hopefully promote some exploration for the player.

I don't want too many ideas, as this IS university work >_>, but I'm just wondering if there's anything I need to think about in this early stage before I advance and tie the idea down more?

Like I said, if I can produce a cartoony drawing of the lead roles, I'll post them here.

Thanks for any help- I may not use ideas mentioned here, and I want this to me largely my own thinking, I'm just curious as to how you you go about tackling a project like this?

Cheers!
