Based on the Famitsu scan that Lord_DS posted a few days ago, this thing is supposed to be called a "Runga." You'll be able to ride around on it and it can fight with you.

If someone could extract the the Runga images and translate that section, I'll update the front page news and Animals guide after I get off work.

Maybe translated literally it may come out 'Runga'. Could be romanized as Lunga or Lunger. Im thinking it might have a lunging bite or jump atk. If so, VERY cool! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Ill have to check this info out on the site.

Well, it is attack-capable, although the screenshot just shows it doing some sort of fire-breath thing on some enemies. I hope that all of the rides have combat capability; fighting from the Land Rover/Ice Digger in PSIV was awesome.

There's also a small picture off to the side of Ethan riding around a forest/jungle river on a mini-hydrofoil thing.

*swans in with ripped images*

Yarr, here be the images from the flash. Check out his little stubby arms! And he.. er, breathes fire?

For some reason he reminds me of one of those dinosaurs you could ride atop in Golden Axe, back in the day. However, check out the miniature screenshot on the speederbike though - Ethan has some kind of action available to him through the action palette. Boost? Drive-by slash?

My translation of the new section.

You will discover a large variety of vehicles throughout your adventure. By using the "Flowder," you'll be able to move across the surface of water that you previously had no way to cross! On Moatoob, there's a native creature called a "Lunga" which will allow you to ride upon its back as it runs! Moving quickly about the field, the Lunga can destroy obstacles and attack enemies that are in your way with fire.

Exactly what I was thinking...

OK, I also made references to the Lunga in another post. I hadnt thought of Golden Axe's dragons. Think of what boss he looks like from another ST creation.

Kinda cool to be on the front page so early in my PSO World posting career http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif I wonder if we will be fighting mini or regular bosses with these animals. It would be a change of pace to do that. Most RPGs have you fighting bosses on foot. The animal would probally have to be near impossible to kill though. If She/He died, and was critical to beating the boss you would be in a heap of trouble.

I updated the Vehicles and Animals guide with the new information.

I agree that monster looks like one of the old animals from Golden Axe. There was a pinkish monster in that game that you could ride that would spit fireballs and allow you to tackle opponents.

Actually, the 3 animals in Golden Axe were:

Blue Dragon: spits flame, in a downward, flamethrowing breath

Red Dragon: spits fireballs

Chicken Leg (more commonly known as Chicken Stinger): knock enemies down by sweeping with its tail

All 3 animals you could headbutt enemies with.

Yay! More updates on the PSU site http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Those lungas are pretty cool lokking. Kind of cute LOL I really want to know more about what they can do. That fire breath thing is awesome. I hope they have more attacks than just that. If they were combat-capable, that would be even better. Riding on the back of a lunga attacking enemies with it. Can you use your weapons and techs while on the back of one? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif That would kick ass! I don't think there's been any mention of YOU being able to use your attacks while on vehicles but that would be cool. Doing drive-bys...

Yeah, if it were up to Phruit & I, we'd have ride-by Megid shots going left & right. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Idk if we'll be able to do any attacking on the animal/vehicle, but, maybe controls will be altered for that. Steer the animal/vehicle & our atk buttons would be firing breath/vehicle wep. Otherwise, we're gonna need ALOT more buttons. LOL

If you look closely, you can see that this creature is a really, really whacked out dolphin. Look at the head, the tail, and the "arms". That tail bugged me and after looking at the image for a couple of minutes it hit me.

Perhaps the Lunga is an evolution of a creature that inhabited Moatoob's oceans back before they evaporated? It's possible that during the slow process of the oceans drying up, they began to adapt to an environment without water until they took to the land with evolved bodies.

Ooh, a theory of evolution. How exciting http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif But that does make sense. Think of the fossil whale skeletons that people are finding in the middle of the desert. And if the oceans slowly disappeared...That's a pretty good idea! Now if that's how ST looked at it...
