no riding online?

I notice that the vehicle/animals seen in pictures/trailers all seem to have Ethan riding them...I wonder if offline and online vehicle choices will differ or not even be an online component at all seeing as they have yet to release a created character riding something.

They are revealing nearly everything from the point of view of the offline mode, so I wouldn't read too much into Ethan being in the pics.

Perhaps we will have to fight our way though all that area. They could fill it with monsters to give length to the game.

Guys, FOR THE RECORD:

1. ST is obsessed with the offline mode. Theyre going to show that predominantly.

2. As stated above, Ethan & crew will be the test chars like the Sonic & company chars were used previously.

3. In your mind, just replace Ethan with your char & his companions with yours.

Yeah, I think it's kind of stupid to assume that all the things we see Ethan will be offline-only. There's no way in hell ST will take all the fun stuff like that out of online mode. I wasn't saying that they wouldn't be in it online, but that their will be different "types" of vehicles online.

For Instance, notice that everything being ridden is singular, how would that work online? yes I know we can see more than one person in X machine/animal but from the screens, it looks like Ethan IS the only character riding them barring the fact that he's (at least to almost every RPG standard) is travelling with friends, which I'm interpreting as offline only (like PS4 when everyone one goes into one ship and you control all of them) vehicles and then their will be a bigger online version of X vehicle...I can however see a 6 person lunga thing going on.

1. The Lunga is not a rappy, looks nothing like it, & I can see its VERY MUCH a Sega creation. If you dont like it, dont ride it.

2. There will be OTHER vehicles that havent received this much attention. A tank was already mentioned. That would be a group vehicle. Also, the Flowder as its apparently called isnt just for water. Ive seen a vehicle floating in mid air across a sandy landscape. It looks the same from the back as does the Flowder. This means it can be used on land as well.

I had no idea you already mentioned it, so its a mistake on my behalf..But I do like that idea of a 6-man (or woman) race, aslong as it doesn't distract too much from the core gameplay.

I wish I knew where it was I saw it, so, I could show you. Its somewhere in 1 of the vids where you see Ethan racing through some caverns on what looks to be Moatoob. I doubt highly it will interfere with gameplay. Just something to do for fun (races) or part of the story (missions). I think we need to break out the Striker tanks for when theres stone walls or massive leagues of monsters trying to assault an area. Oh yeah, a massive tank assault sounds hella sweet. That tank in the 'char showcase' vid looked awesome. And if Curtz hooked you up with the tanks...Well...I don't know, but that would be really cool. In a tank, you would be left with the choice to blow up all the monsters, or run 'em over LOL And about the whole two-seater idea, I don't think that it'll happen. But that would be REALLY fun to go ride around with a friend, or add more seats for more friends. Anyways, it sounds cool and all, but I don't think they'll have it cuz (I think) the vehicles are pretty much the same offline as they are online. The Flowder should give you that feel of being on a dirt bike, careening across the desert sands. True, there wont be wheels, but, youll get such range of motion that you wont even care. The G-Flyer is capable of space flight and can transport small groups between planets.

Feel free to flame me on this one, if it's been answered already, but given the way PSO works, and assuming that because PSU will have the same "Lobby->Game" system to it, what is the real use of a vehicle which can achieve space travel?

PSU is not going to be one of the games where there is a "World", so to speak, and you travel on it like in most MMO's, right?

I guess it will just depend on how the game system works, i.e., whether or not you are stuck in one area/on one planet when you start a game from the lobby.

Well, first you gotta understand how big the Guardians Colony is. The GC is a station up in orbit (think Star Trek: Deep Space 9). Apparently, its so huge you can have vehicles within (Ethan has been shown flying a floating skateboard) & theres 2 known methods to transport to a planet's surface. In addition, theres vehicles you can use upon the planet to skim land or water, even a dragon-type creature. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Just knowing this alone, PSU clearly dwarfs PSO in size with having not just one planet, but, three to explore & the whole space station known as the GC. Im very much glad to have these vehicles around as Ill not have to walk all the time. Well, the creatures that landed & disrupted the celebration are called SEED Vance. They appeared from space, almost in a meteor-like shower. In attempting to solve this mystery (& rescue your little sister), youll travel to 3 planets: Parum, Moatoob, & Neudaiz. Parum is primarily a human planet, Moatoob mostly casts & beasts, & Neudaiz is where Newmans call home.
Space travel has been a pretty important part of Phantasy Star in the past. At least mentioning the fact that it takes place in space & sometimes you do leave the planet/moon youre on to explore elsewhere. PSO was a real change for me to get used to in that Ragol was the 1 planet you explore. LOL OK, don't get me wrong, and no offense, but I think I'm not expressing my point clearer. I realize there will be space travel, and that's awesome. I just meant... and I believe it IS an entirely new experience, at least as far as PSO is concerned. What I'm talking about is the actual piloting of a spacecraft BY the character, i.e., you personally driving a spaceship. Obviously those vehicles/animals introduced were done so because we are going to be allowed to pilot/ride them?

To actually be able to drive one in space is what I was talking about, and I am just interested in how they portray that in the game. Like, how far are you allowed to go outside of the colony, whether or not you ACTUALLY travel amongst the planets, or are simply warped there by means of a CG scene where everyone boards the craft and flies off to regain control once you get to the planet.

I hope it's as cool as I think ^_^

Unfortunately, it may just be a cinema. We wont get to directly pilot it ourselves. I know, Im majorly upset about this. Ive always wanted to do that in a PS game. As for planet-side vehicles, those will very much be in control by the player. Don't think they'd leave something as big as that out of the online mode.

AND the chances are the maps are the same between online and offline, which means if offline the maps are so big that you need vehicles, then the online maps will also require vehicles.
