I was waiting for that for quite some time... But I got sick of FFXI, so I stopped playing it. Tell me if it turns out being a good class, I would think it's either really cheap or really bad, but I couldn't imagine it being anywhere in the middle. But hey, I don't really know any information on the class, I just had hoped they would have released it sooner -- I love Blue Mages.

Got tired of this battle system so I quit and I hate how hard this game is; it's not fun most of the time because either I have to farm for money or need beter gear. Tell me how it turns out. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I think I'd play more PSU than FFXI.

I maxed out BST as far as I can, and I'm done for FF11.

If anyone still plays this game, you might want to check out its successor called Rising Force Online.

http://rf-onlinegame.com

Closed beta sign-ups are still going on I believe.

lol, no, man.. just no. RF Online, a game made by a totally different company and having really no relation to FFXI, is NOT FFXI's successor.

If anything already announced is the "successor" to FFXI, it'd be Fantasy Earth. An MMORPG announced by Square Enix quite some time ago... (Don't know what they're doing with it right now, though)

If you forgot about this announcement, here are some links:

The layout of the POL site for the new expansion seems to lead on that there's more than Blue Mage being added, as far as jobs go.

Yea i noticed that also hmmm my only problem is that im not sure how long i will play FFXI once PSU comes out if at all http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

I probably won't go back to FFXI. :/ Especially if PSU comes out before the next expansion...

...Despite having waited for Blue Mage since release... :/

Hmmm i kinda feel the same way but i really want to try and mix my RDM/BLUM combo and see if it works out also kent what do you think about the changes to dragoon?

eXo has a hilarious sig..

I noticed the layout too, but they will probably stay with BLU being added as a new job for right now and wait and see if the xbox version will "recreate" the boom that FFXI got around the beginning of last year. People are quitting in large quantities cause the game sucks ^_^.

I can see it now in Valkrum Dunes:

(!) 10blm/5rdm No0b
(!) 10blm/5rdm No0b1
(!) 10blm/5rdm No0b2
(!) 10blm/5rdm No0b3
(!) 10blm/5rdm No0b4
(!) 10blm/5rdm No0b5

...

(!) 10blm/5rdm No0b658
(!) 10blm/5rdm No0b659

I still pay for FFXI, but I haven't touched it in a while. Sitting looking for a party for two hours just to end up dieing because your puller or healer can't do their job isn't my idea of fun.

Kent
Dec 9, 2005, 02:49 PM
...I wish there were that many Black Magi seeking in Valkurm. :/

As for the changes to Dragoon... Yeah, they need to change the DRG two-hour ability. :/ Call Wyvern is nice and all, but it makes the DRG way too dependant on its two-hour.

I do find it pretty ironic, though, that they're adding new Dynamis areas. Dynamis - Valkurm was always joked about with my Dynamis linkshell, and now it's being added to the game...

And yeah, I also think that BLU/RDM may be a viable combo. Being touted as a "fighter-mage," I'm guessing that BLU will probably make good use of Fast Cast, En-spells, and Phalanx.

Whoah there...I didn't think anyone would take that literally. The comment was merely a figure of speech saying "here's something better" since FFXI is so terrible.

To call something or someone a successor to something, they've got to be related. Also, with how you compared it, you're putting your opinion to it.

That's like, say, someone saying "Oh yeah, go try Xenosaga, which is the successor to Phantasy Star IV". lol. Hey, they're both RPGs, so why not?

Just because RF Online is another MMO, doesn't make it the successor to Final Fantasy XI. =P Not even close.

Just say it's another MMO to try out, but definitely not the successor to FFXI.

Kent
Dec 10, 2005, 12:28 PM
FFXI is probably the first MMO to not entirely suck. :/

Really, the only bad things about FFXI are the people that play it; they bring down the economy, discourage players from doing what's effective, by telling them to do only what stereotypes tell them (ex. Saying DRK should only sub THF after level 60), and they refuse to learn that things other than said stereotype won't work at all.

A prime example, is the ability of the Samurai job to be both a prime DD as well as Tank. It's entirely possible for a Samurai, even without millions apon millions of gil in equipment, to be able to both tank and DD at the same time. :/ Especially at levels 60+.

I'd love the game so much more if people would just think more about things, and stay open-minded.

The game, itself, is actually wonderfully balanced, in how complex it is. People are just so stupid, en masse, that they can bring something like that down. :/

Dec 10, 2005, 01:11 PM
Yep FFXI is a really fun game especially when you when you subject yourself to extended vacations from the game. Everything just seems so new fun and "REFRESHED" <---- cheap redmage pop.I actually would reactivate my account tonight but then they will bill me again on the 1st anyway :

Hmmm the next FFXI xpac will allow lv 75 chars to learn new magic spells by using merit points =

I cancelled my account, because I haven't been playing. :/

That, and the economy is completely shot on Fenrir now.

Sinue_v2
Dec 12, 2005, 10:51 AM
That, and the economy is completely shot on Fenrir now.

It's not just Fenrir. When I quit back in May, I was on Garuda farming for gil to buy an Ochido's Kote that was 800,000. Just last night, my friend Xarxsis informs me that he saw one in the AH going to 6,000,000... and it was a price undercutter who was selling it.

Kent
Dec 12, 2005, 03:59 PM
Sadly enough, Ochiudo's Kote is pretty much a waste, for anyone that can use it. :/

MNK and SAM benefit more from using gloves that increase STR, and NIN aren't really that fond of losing evasion... Not to mention, that more important things could probably be gotten from gloves for them, as well. Such as STR, AGI, or Ranged attack/accuracy.

FFXI is one of those games you have to get to a high level to enjoy and as a lvl 75 monk i can clearly state that i enjoy this game. however if it wasnt for skillchains the battle system would be boring >.>

An issue wherein the delay between disengaging from an enemy and being able to attack once more not being equal to the delay of the weapon equipped has been addressed.

Finally... No more crazy japanese WARs with Great Axes, rapid-fire attacking, heh...

I like some of the new Diabolos abilities, but I wonder how good they are in practice... He can DoT enemies and put them to sleep, and he can also Phalanxra the whole party. I just wonder if that's anywhere near as good as RDM Phalanx. If it is, PLD + SMN just got a whole lot better.

Dec 21, 2005, 01:27 AM
Hmmm its a conspiracy i tell you they are trying to wipe us out, first they give bard are refresh =:nono: then they showed the whole world our potential replacment the Blue Mage http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif and now Diablos can phanlax the entire party http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif WHATS NEXT a geomancer who can "CONVERT" the entire party every 3 minutes http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif

Kent
Dec 23, 2005, 11:53 AM
...Eh? I still prefer a Red Mage over a Bard, in pretty much all of my parties. Bards can increase the attack and accuracy of your melees, and give Refresh to your magi, sure... But the ability to do that without MP cost, comes at the expense of exactly how much utility?

That, and Red Magi can still chip in with melee damage (despite all the idiots that say otherwise) while doing their job, and the Bard's too busy running around, being spoony, with their excessively long casting times, to be able to, not to mention the lack of sword enhancement magic.

Bard is just support. Red mage is... Red Mage. Doing everything at once, and looking professional whilst doing so. :/

I know I shouldn't post in a topic this old, but I figured that this here's some valuable information.

New job confirmed for the expansion, in Famitsu!

http://img452.imageshack.us/img452/9309/corsair16ip.jpg

Corsair. Gambler is the job's classic name, but they decided against calling it that, due to how gambling is viewed in a western sense. The job focuses around using the job abilities to give the party members random buffs, as well as using a 'Hexagun' (not "hexa" as in six, "hexa" as in a play on "hex;" also not the high-damage guns like Rangers use) in order to support the party... In an unspecified way. Most likely the ways that Mustadio in FFT or the Gunner job in FFTA do.

The person interviewed about this job was also caught grinning when asked about Geomancer or Sage as an upcoming job...

Last time he grinned about something, it was about Summoner getting more avatars, then they got Diabolos, so...

Oh snaps I can be a pirate! I can already see this job being subbed with nin. Almost makes me wanna get back into the game...Almost.

Edit: Wonder what kinda 2hr they'd have...
