Call me picky, but I think it would have looked better if Karen and Mirei (sp?) weren't on the same side of the cover, your eyes get drawn to the mass of purple. (At least mine do anyway)

I also remember the discussion the cover art brought up, I really thought they would've changed it..

Edit: Also, the cover could be totally different for different regions. That's the Japanese one, correct? If that's the case, the US/EU covers could be nothing like this. I'm hoping for a plain cover, centred logo.

Hm, this is 'cover art', as opposed to a logo-centred-on-white-background. Personally, i prefer the minimalist approach, but in the end, the packaging will rot in the landfill while the game lives forever in my memory.

i like the cover, but i also see what most people are saying about the white one i better. id have to admit if i was new to the game, a mas of cleam white would catch my eye befor i even walked up to the shelf. but if this is the JP version then i definately expect the cover 4 U.S. to be different (looking back on all of the different covers on PSO and other sonic team games)

Actually, Ep3's box art was the first to pop into my mind, then Xbox's Box Art. (Note the newman's head positioning)

Anyway, I really like this box art. Hope they don't change it TOO much for the US release.

I can understand most people here not liking the cover, although I dont think its that bad. I do believe that they probably opted to not go with a white cover with just the name because for people who have never heard of the game, there's nothing in the cover that would grab them to pick up the box and check it out. Probably the reason for the fancy art is to grab the attention of those who arent as die hard fans as us and get more people to check it out. understandable.

I dont think it will change much, if at all. In past PS games, the chars didnt necessarily look in game like how they were displayed on the box. However, for this artwork, that IS how they look. Also, if anything, the white cover would be the Japanese artwork. Since its not officially being used, dont expect to see it outside JP. The white art could still be the manual cover & or CD, but, seeing as how stateside artwork tends to carry over to the manual & CD, I doubt this highly. I personally liked both styles, but, whatever comes, comes. Just as long as I like the art (& I do), Im happy. The cover reminds me a little to much of .hack// (not sure which volume of the PS2 series.) Oh well if you don't like the cover they use, you could always make a new cover and print it out. Yeah, I liked the plain white one more too. Not that wouldn't be okay with this one, but it does have a ship flying out of an evil cast's crotch (sorry to bring it up again, but). I have to agree about the purple, too much on just one side. It needs to be more balanced out to look good.

Maybe the lighting's bad on the box but there isnt a ton of purple on those two. When you check out more ingame art of them, they look vastly different & not too much purple.

Oh I wasn't saying it in a negative light, I was only saying that it's box art and there really is no reason to care about how it looks because to be honest if ST made the cover black and white and just said PSU on it, I guarantee all of oyu wuold still buy it. I've already warned my GF that May/June 06 will see a decline in our social time, and it's cool because right now I'm sitting through her CoV addiction.
