View Full Version : Mag: Partner Machinery!

I've noticed some people saying things like, create new items, etc by feeding your PM, but I haven't located any information on the internet about these things. I know they evolve similar to how mags did in PSO, and I know they can eventually be taken on your missions with you, unless you choose to leave them in your room, but other than that, I can't find one thing that says we can create new items with them. Were are you guys getting this info?

Here is the PSOW guide for Partner Machinery:
http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=2367

The information for it came from translating the official website.

I've already seen that page and it still doesn't list some of the things I've seen more than one person on these boards type.

Its from the PSU site as well as info gathered from interviews from ST devs. Not to mention looking at pics & vids backing up the info.

That pages lists all of the information we currently know about Partner Machinery. We know they will be able to create items (according to the official webpage). However, we don't know what kinds of items they will be able to make.

Okay vids such as, I've seen proof and those screens on this site don't do much to offer concrete evidence, it all seems like speculation to me like alot of these posts.

Exactly what are you looking for proof of? That Partner Machinery can produce items? If so, it has only been mentioned on the official site so far. The item producing abilities haven't been shown on any of the videos or screen captures so far.

For example, I've seen Odin type in many of his posts about creating weapons etc etc, but I haven't seen a single bit of information that would indicate that PM's create weapons for you.

I dont have the links handy, but there have been a few ppl who have translated items from the PSU site, Famitsu magazine, & other such sources. Maybe theyd be able to redirect you there.

DM, ppl are so used to the classes that the general public will always refer to them as such. Oh well. My former FOmarl could be said to be a HUmarl now, but, retaining her FO roots. Idk what youd call that. I just call her Masako, founder of the Moon's Cry clan & ass-kicker of monsters anywhere spawned by Darkfalz (you know SEED is gonna be connected to him, wait & see).

Xanthias64

(you know SEED is gonna be connected to him, wait & see)

ooooooooooooo.

Tis all I can say - that's probably a WHOLE 'nother topic. I am anxious to find out where teh hell this new adversary comes from though.

Also, on the topic again, I haven't read much outside of PSOW's guides on PSU, but obviously the Partner-Mech will have to create like rare items or something else close to usefull, right? I mean, what is the use of giving 50 Dimates or something to a Partner-mech just so he spits out a monofluid at you every now and then?

OdinTyler
Dec 20, 2005, 10:08 PM
No, the PM wont spit out a monofluid. If mine did that, it would be on a 1 way garbage scow trip to Roron. LOL The idea from what we gather is feed it various items & it creates items for us to further use, like weapons.

Xanthias64
Dec 20, 2005, 10:18 PM
Ah that makes sense.

But how would you feel, knowing that your weapon was not purchased, or even found, but rather... Pooped?

Korashimo
Dec 20, 2005, 10:22 PM
omg the more u talk about the game THE MORE PHYCHED I GET! *sigh* 2 bad it aint coming for a long time...well it is to me at least...not sure bout any1 else. There r 2 many good things about it!!!! Also i believe the PM's wont spit out a monofluid if u feed it a tonn of dimates, I mean really that would be a ripoff.

Xanthias64
Dec 20, 2005, 10:24 PM
Right. I can't wait either. And, yeah, I figured they wouldn't make the game that crappy. I was just leaving it open for discussion maybe? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Xanthias64
Dec 20, 2005, 10:31 PM
Bad experiences? Care to elaborate? Like... where you lost items etc. or what's teh deal?

OdinTyler
Dec 20, 2005, 11:17 PM
Well, if you want to say the items are 'pooped' out, so be it. Before, it was mentioned as being spitted out. Now, pooped, huh? For all we know, the PM will 'create' the item by having it appear on the floor right in front of it. Whatever imagery works for you allows it to be there. Its possible armor is made this way as well, Idk. I know weapons for sure & there was talk of shields. Theres a special photon (A-photons I think) that was used for shield technology. Perhaps its extended to armor?

Xanthias64
Dec 20, 2005, 11:21 PM
appear on the floor right in front of it.

Unfortunately, that's exactly how your dog would like for you to see it... xD

OdinTyler
Dec 20, 2005, 11:24 PM
LOL If you say so. WOW! Just noticed that you joined on November 10. Thats my bday! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif Well, however the PM 'releases' the item, just be glad that we get this new-found ability to somewhat customize our own items. As brought up before, I hope we can name them. If not, so be it. I just love the option to put in various elements or skills. Not only will they be fun to use & look at, but, will actually help your char's performance in battle.

Xanthias64
Dec 20, 2005, 11:59 PM
Oh wow that's awesome! (birthday and the items XD)

I didn't realize this at all. I just hope that it's not a totally ambiguous naming system, like where nobody has any idea what weapons someone else has becuase it's named something silly instead.

The idea of elements in the weapons, and NOT having to simply get lucky finding a % weap. That sounds nice to me. In iRO, a blacksmith could make a weapon named after himself and whatever element it possesed, and of course the weapon type. Perhaps something like that will be the case?

Also on that note, do you think we'll still have grinders? and if so, will we be able to use them ourselves, or will it be something that only a PM is allowed to do?

OdinTyler
Dec 21, 2005, 12:21 AM
I havent read too much into it, but, grinding is mentioned in a section on the PSU website. Can anyone who's translated before elaborate on whats the deal with grinding? Or have we basically discussed it already? I do know you can put an element into a wep (Idk how many types of elements there are). You can also 'program' in special skills into your weps so you can actually hit more times in a combo. Pretty cool, huh?

I think it was mentioned that, if you weren't able to fill all six slots on yer squad, PMs could sub for Guardians. If this is the case, it seems that your PMs will not accompany you for online quests with a full team. That is, six slots is what you get, to fill with Guardians and PMs as you are able.

That would be a little to much since it would kind of defeat the purpose of finding rare items, armors, weapons. I know if I could just make a particular item, I wouldn't bother trying to find otehr rares, I would just focus on leveling up.

Xanthias64
Dec 21, 2005, 04:40 AM
Well, I doubt they will make it so that close to every item is attainable by means of feeding your PM. That kind of destroys the meaning of PSO.

But I can understand how it would be kind of a bummer if you spent a week looking for a rare and your friend fed a PM for a couple days and it spat (pooped) out the exact same item. Maybe even with an element attatched.

Who knows how it will be? I wouldnt say that just because the PM may not be an official member of the group just because its filled by 6 players, that it wouldnt be allowed to come with. Maybe it will be sitting in the Striker or something? Maybe similar technology will be available as for the SUV, so, PMs can be beamed down to us?

Not if the difficulty increased as per how many players/PM's are on the field (or in a boss room.) As for the "laggy" note, I don't think it would be wise playing this on a 56K. Even then I know a PS2 can only be hooked up to a LAN network or directly into a broadband connection which would mean PS2 players will make things easier.

On that note, I don't wanna see laggy ass players running around, suddenly stopping, reappearing somewhere else, stopping again, reappearing yet again somewhere else. I won't allow those kinds of players on my team since it can actually irritate the other team members. Heck, if the game starts doing the dreaded "please wait" while someones connection is making a fuss every few seconds, I'm just gunna end up leaving the team and finding a group of players who doesn't cause mishaps for the rest of the team. -_-

Well as long as they scale the difficulty because PSO was easy enough using just a party of 2-4 on Ultimate so I can only image the carnage that a party of 12 would cause. Heres hoping they make it so you can have either 6 human players or 3 human and 3 npc PM, but not 6 and 6 that would just be a bit much in my opinion.

1. I know that a PM would take up a party member's slot. I just suggested that maybe you could beam one down, say if someone left the group? That way theres no need to create a new game. Just beam down a PM via SUV's portal.

2. There would be lag whether there is dialup or broadband.

3. Its already been said that PSU is broadband only. Considering the size of this game, its no real shock.

4. It would be interesting to see if the difficulty lvl increased as group members entered the team. Nothing worse than seeing some self-proclaimed god thinking he can (& does) solo everything in sight. Thats just boring.

Lets hope we'll see some sneaky actions our PM's use when their with us. Imagine if theres a nasty looking Sinow type enemy that can not only backstep quickly from attacks but sidestep, run and do some tripped out moves and suddenly it gets struck from behind by your PM because it was distracted on you.
