Sorry if this is an old shot, but...
Does this english shot mean that the english version is going to be in circulation soon after the Japanese version?! O_O

Actually, the demo I played had English menus. Doesnt mean this was taken from the English version. Its not entirely possible tho. Nice pic. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Actually it most likely could be, there was video footage in another topic (where Kite was talking about it being stolen from another forum) that had English subtitles but still had the Japanese voicing. Personally I would like to see them keep the Japanese voices just in case the English ones don't make up for it. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

someone has an idea of what is the thing in front of Ethan's name on the left?

Party leader, maybe?

i'm just hoping you can adjust the transparency of the map in the upper right. That's a little too conspicuous for my taste.

i don't think it means the party leader cause this demo is from the offline mode

Id need:

1) Some English to see where Im going
2) To know what Im looking for (as I dont see anything that stands out)

I'm not sure about opacity, but I did see in some screenshots, if you're playing on PC, when set to a higher resolution all of that stuff is significantly smaller. More action, less HUD.

Section ID (a type of, I should say) would kind of be unnecessary information to put up on the screen. Then again.. so a TNL meter.

To me.. the symbol beside Ethan's name remembles something you would see on a buff or debuff. However, there are no visual effects to accompany it. (The rings of light and color for Shifta/Deban for example) That could be because effects graphics for the buff hadn't been put in yet when the demo picture was taken...

However, it could also denote the type of effect your weapon has. Techs can be linked to weapons to give them special properties when fired using Photon Points (Ice Shot, Fire Shot, ect). The symbol beside Ethan's name could denote the type of tech he has linked to his weapon - even if he's not set up to actually cast techs from it.

--------

Edit: That second idea might actually hold some validity now that I think about it. I remember a lot of people complaining that their weapons had a "Breakage" meter when playing the E3 demo which went down as they used the weapon. However, if I recall right - normal attacks don't decrease photon points.. only techs, tech-effects, and special attacks do that. So if they were decreasing PP with normal attacks - that could be an indication of a tech-linked weapon.

So Odin.. since you played the demo.. do you recall having a saber or gun with a special element in it?

That looks like the party setup like how it is for PSO when a NPC joins your team in certain quests.

Also in the demo in Digital Life it had english subtitles with japanese voice and also none of the weapons had any specials on it but I found it funny I found so many monofluids in the demo o.o

actually it could be party leader because theres some screenshots where Ethan doesnt appear to be the party leader but rather Lou

Hmm... PS2 version I assume since that is a wonderfully 'moiré ridden' shot. Hopefully HUD will have changed since E3, but based on what has come out as of recent I suppose it hasn't. In any event, at least on the PC version with higher resolutions it becomes less noticable since it seems they don't have it designed to 'auto-stretch' to match resolutions. I just hope they don't 'fix' that.

Yet by the same token, last I heard we weren't able to control which character we play in the offline mode. It would seem odd to me to have to follow around a NPC AI party leader in story mode.

(Though that doesn't disclude the possibility of it being a party-leader symbol. Sonic Team has been known to use the offline party members to demonstrate online features)

Well if they allowed you to be able to play other characters, the install (currently 8 gigs) would require more. Personally I rather just play with Ethen.

Persides, I think their going by how Online feels. Afterall you don't wanna be playing someone elses character and having your head ripped off. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

well its logical to assume ethan is not always the focal point of the story

OdinTyler
Dec 28, 2005, 07:48 PM
Ethan is the focal point behind the story (main char wise anyway). However, its going to touch on stories with other ppl. Thats a given. I know that in the forest area you had a pretty good size group whereas in the relics at one point, its you & the Doctor. So, party size will change in offline mode. Whether or not Ethan wont be the main char at all times remains to be seen.

well at any rate i dont see why we wouldnt be able to control a story character other than ethan
