Bkdbear1991 passed this to me today, it coveres a few things we've been wondering about.

"One new addition to the series both in the online and offline modes are vehicles." Up to this point we haven't been sure if they were offline only.

"USB keyboards will be supported for PlayStation 2 players, and Sonic Team is trying to also get headset support in, but at this time they’re not guaranteeing anything." Hopefully the voice support is one of the reasons for the hold up.

Now our fear of rampant cussin' and perversion has come one step closer to being realized. Huzzah...At least I can yell at fools across the globe for their stupidity in a language they don't understand. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

You're assuming that the regional servers will be linked. Unfortunately, there hasn't been any word about that yet.

I wonder how much Sega plans on getting these prehensiles involved. A bundle pack with headphones would be quite the surprise. It'd be unlikely addition but if Sega says they're as in it as they say, I wouldn't rule it out of the question.

The mic would be a good addition... if there's NO voice lag like in The XBox Ver... Ad no loud Jackasses in the lobbis blasting music.

I will be ok with voice chat as long as they make it proximity chat. Proximity chat is where only the people that are within a certain distance around your character can hear you. That way if someone is being annoying you could just walk out of their voice range. If they follow you you could just block their voice.

Well with the announcement of the Force10 thing and them teaming with Sega...maybe Servers will be linked because there WILL be a mass amount of JP players and (hopefully) US and EU players as well.

Voice chat makes it so much easier to communicate in the heat of battle.

However, it's not fun dealing with racist 13-year old kids. Hopefully, they'll make some easy way of reporting people to a GM (or equivalent), and actually do something about offenders.

But then again, if they don't implement voice chat, I'll just get on Ventrilo, when I'm playing with friends. :/

See, the key is to make it like XBox live, you can mute people. So you just mute everyone, then unmute people until you reach the annoying people, re-mute them, then move on. It's that simple. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

May take a little time, but better than listening to the idiots.

Actually Dre, you can mute ppl on a few PS2 games, not just Xbox. However, being that Xbox Live is a whole system in itself, its more prevalent. So, I agree with you there. The PS2 games that come to mind: SOCOM. I picked up II not too long ago & of course, mixed feelings. Good in that I finally own a voicechat game. Bad that I dont have a headset. Good that I have the option to mute ppl. Bad because there are some real jerks there. You get booted for no reason (Idk...its weird).
Anyway, I had an idea for EQOA that of course never came to be. Hopefully it happens in PSU. I was thinking that there would be a separate group chat where you can type (like in EQOA) but for those that have voicechat ability, can speak in group. Having it in the GC would cause too much clutter on the channels & would become a major problem quickly. If its in group only, you could mute someone. Idk if this would happen, but, if you set it up that way, it would work out. Not all 6 ppl in group would necessarily have voicechat on at once & there would have to be a way to give everyone a chance to talk (a small, but, decent limit).
