Speaking by experience, you might not want to start a political topic here. >_> Or anywhere on the Interweb for that matter.

You're asking a question that is rather relative to where a person lives. Generally, a European conservative would be viewed as rather liberal by, say, a person from the United States. It also depends on the person's personal views on exactly what conservative, moderate, and liberal values happen to be. That is of course only saying anything if the person even knows what the words actually mean.

As in: Conservative = resitant to drastic or fast changes; Liberal = open to drastic and fast changes; and Moderate = resistant on some, open to others.

Same here.

Anyway, the terms liberal and conservative have lost a lot of their meaning, and have been generally reduced to buzzwords, IMO.

Liberal/Moderate.

My mind is pretty confusing in terms of political thinking. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

I'll tell you why I suggested against posting.

Politics and the Internet are a surefire way to make a lot of things explode. It's happened before here, it's happened in many other places - it's even happened between two admins of a forum I'm registered that. Talking about politics is a dangerous thing to do on the Internet, since with so many people reading a forum in a day, there's a lot more chances of falling on someone who's very passionate about his position... and things go downhill from there.

I didn't reply to blast you. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I just wanted to warn you of what was likely to happen.

Take it from someone who knows, Political topics are a big no no.

Once you post it, it will take at least 3 days to kill the topic. Then a week later it will pop again.

Politics...hmmm....not something I bother getting myself into. But I do know that a topic like this will get a hell load flaring, just not flaming. Flaring...

By definition, I am a liberal.

But I won't actually worry about political stuff until I have to, so until then, liberal! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Whatever Dean Gray--the genius(es)!--tells me to be.

No, wait, radical.

No, actually, politics gets on my nerves of late. Thus, I declare, I owe allegience to none of your silly "parties" (a party cannot, by definition, be a party in the absense of either or both of the following: food and fun. I ask you, when is the last time a conservative gave you a homemade pecan pie or a liberal engaged you in a lively game of charades [topic: historical documents]). For the time being, I am politically single. However, should any party be desirous of my support, they may submit a plate of spaghetti (liberally doused with marinara sauce, thank you) and a copy of the latest novel by John C. Wright for my consideration.
P.S. For a fancy-schmancy state-of-the-art digital camera, you may also have my vote in all state and national elections in the coming two years.

I prefer not to align myself with any political position. I'd rather be viewed as an individual with their own opinions - rather than lumped in either "Liberals" or "Conservitives". Honestly, I hate both positions - mainly because they do not much else but stand around bitching about one another and how the the opposing side is ruining the country.

The truth of the matter is, we need both Conservitives and Liberals in the world. If the government is too liberal, it looses sight of it's itself and changes too quickly. Things spiral out of control, and it ends up in chaos. If the system is too conservitive - then necessary changes in policy - radical social and economic reforms which are needed would never be made. The system would stagnate and decay from the inside.

A perfect balance of both points of view are what is needed - and while I can understand where this causes tension between the groups, in the end - it's for the best. Neither side seems to understand this though - and the division of political views increases, with many people not even truely believing in their own viewpoints - but instead just following along with what their party tells them to think in order to give their support. "Hey, it's better than letting the ****ing Liberals/Conservitives rule the country".

That's what I have the most problem with.

there isnt a single political party that does even half the things they should do, so wheres the 'anarchist' option? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
