Jeux-France (http://www.jeux-france.com/news14231_phantasy-star-universe-en-equipe.html)

I don't have time to translate everything at the moment, but there honestly doesn't seem to be too much new info. This article mostly looks like a recap of various bits of info on the three planets, Guardians Colony, races, etc. Once I have more time to sit down and really go over bits of the article, I'll let you guys know. So, expect some translations later today.

In one picture I noticed that the my room has a christmas like theme to it. With red and white striped items and snow with foot tracks.

I was browsing Jeux-France this morning. I guess they uploaded these after I stopped by there. Here are some of my thoughts:

1st Page - Nice views of the Guardian Colony there. I wonder if that is a picture of the "My Room" feature in the center column. I think those are the Communion of Graal and Rogue logos in the third column.

2nd Page - This is just race information. Although that SUV-Weapon picture seems to be new.

3rd Page - More Race and Planet information. Whoever cropped these images did a really lousy job. The rest of the section describing the Endrum Collective was chopped off.

4th Page - I think is describing the history of the Graal system (500 Year War, rise of the 4 races, etc...). The diagram in the center seems to suggest what the relationships are among the races.

It seems that flowers will be some of the things we can put in our rooms...So much for having Nar Lilies http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

hmm if you look at the second room's picture it seems like there is specials sites to put the goodies (like for the flowers). Too bad if we can't put the items where we want http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

And based on those pictures:

http://www.pso-world.com/images/psu/online/myroom4.jpg
http://www.pso-world.com/images/psu/online/myroom6.jpg
http://www.pso-world.com/images/psu/online/myroom3.jpg

It looks like there is like 7 to 10 sites to put the items.

According to your pics, DS, is it safe to presume that each My Room has 2 hallways or is that just 2 camera angles? From what Ive seen, I knew of the main hallway which lead to the bedroom. Is there more we're finding out here?

OK. I've translated the flow chart shown in one of the scans.

[Relations Between Each Race]

Humans => created => Newmen
Newmen => sign non-aggression treaty with => Humans

Humans => created => Casts
Casts => govern => Humans

Humans => created => Beasts
Beasts => gained equal rights with => Humans

I've skimmed over the rest of the article some more, but really didn't see anything new. I'll go back over it more thoroughly later, but for now I need to head off to the gym before it gets too late.

Ok, well, I'm a wee bit bored while I wait for roast chicken to cook, so here's that flowchart filled in with EspioKaos' translations - if anyone's a bit confused:

OK given this info, a new order & flowchar would end up being required, as follows:

[Relations Between Each Race]

Casts => target inferior beings => Humans
Newmen => COG members wont aid militarily (despite non-agression pact) => Humans

Humans => call upon their possible allies => Beasts
Beasts => join up with their social equals => Humans

Humans => go to war => Casts
Beasts => go to war => Casts

Newmen => caught in middle => Humans Beasts and Casts

Can we see how complicated this will all become? Yes? Good. It makes for a hell of a story & I cant wait to see how it plays out. LJ, feel free to make a flowchart from that. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

If you look over the Races (http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=2358) guide, you'll see that all of the races have a reason to hate the Humans. The Humans have an ugly historical record. I could definitely see another war taking place in the current game.

Man, I hope one does. That would be a sweet setting.

Well, that much is obvious. Humans play god & try to subdue their creations. One or more rebels & theres always Hell to pay. A tattoo on Angelina Jolie suddenly comes to mind:

"That which nourishes me also destroys me."

Truer words were never said.

The big 'Exil Access' guy in this game's offline is a cast... and they're alway fighting casts or bots (and SEED)

1. Not true, I love casts. The story does show that theres a large portion that have sided with Magashi & thats unfortunate.

2. True, the original flowchart is nice. However, thats pre-game. How about one with the data Ive shown to represent what will go on DURING the game?

All this intergalactic race versus race stuff kind of reminds me of Exosquad, an awesome cartoon that ran in the early 90s. Humans created Neo-Sapiens to terraform Venus and Mars, basically given superior strength, reflexes, and intelligence, and the race rebelled only to be squashed due to human resourcefulness and the creation of weapons that overcame the rebellion. Then later, humanity was attacked by space pirates, and the entire human space fleet went after the pirates, which resulted in the homeworlds being taken over by the Neo Sapiens who were secretly building a fleet of their own.

I love this kind of stuff. Epic struggles concerning an entire universe as opposed to some kid and his love interest... I hope they flesh it out a lot, including online quests.

Well at least they are getting a little more interesting with the story this time around. Not that there was anything wrong with PSO's story, it just didn't seem as developed as PSU's story.

With all this "friction" between the races, I wonder how parties of 6 made up of random races are explained in the context of things?

Parn

That's what real roleplaying games are all about. You create the character, and you are presented with the opportunity to do something with the presented environment. You have a mixture of races with tension toward each other, and are in danger from an enemy that seeks to destroy them all. Now you fill in the holes.

The players are all Guardians. This is after a big Peace Treaty of Mutual Nonagression.

I wonder if the whole 'casts' thing will have a 'we're better then you' complex over like...everyone. Usually it's the humans who have this due to creating these other races, but then still viewing themselves as superior.

However, the vibe I've been getting so far from the 'casts as government' deal has been that this was a willing thing (humans/newman etc let them handle stuff) and not a hostile take-over like what the Neosapians did. They were kind of like the beast race mixed with Mr. Spock...(all (do not) hail Phaeton!)

Which brings up what's going on on Earth, now. No one cares about politics, no one votes, no one pays attention because it's just a batch of boring oldguys. Well, what about a bunch of boring old machines who you never have to worry about? So what for voting, not like MY one vote makes a difference...Put the lot of 'em in office and get back to stamp collecting or water-skiing and no one has to attend their own matters any more. This story is not far fetched at all any more, is it?

The plot of this one is ultra-intregueing. It just makes the wait that much more un-stand-able! Argh!

(and it really is too bad Exosquad was JUST before the internet, that thing really coulda hit home with a fan-base--it was the Anime of America before it really ever came over...Marsala, Kaz, Nara and no one remembers)

The Devistation War... Part Deux?

Looks like I'll be making a character named Orakio then...

You're officially awesome for remembering Exosquad. E-frames > giant robots any day of the week. Saddening that the series got cancelled after a second season.

Actually there was other anime before Exosquad. Of course it was translated from Japanese, but, there were notable exceptions (from the 70s, I believe): G-Force aka Battle of the Planets & Centurions; Voltron from the 80s. Theres alot more, but, I wont make a huge list. Then, of course there are classics our parents may have watched from the 60s: Speed Racer & Astro Boy.

Too late. ;D Exo-Squad was a good show, but we should stick to talking about the Magazine scans. An Exo-Squad discussion would be most appropriate in Off-Topic.

Okay, this sucks http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif I'm having the same problem I had with the last scans from Jeux-France. Only like the top 1/4th of the scan will load. 'Refresh' does not help at all. So, again, could somebody please help me out and post these scans up somewhere. I'd really like to see them (the other 3/4ths at least http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif). Please help...
