View Full Version : Why GC PSO is not worth it after DC v2
Well after playing it for a while and talking to people in ultimate, it seems like ST is a lazy ass company. First of all 2 of the new levels are just levels from DC v2 battle mode enlarged. Second, Ultimate Epsidode II has nothing new, no new enemies no anything. Third, the common rares may have new looks but its hard to find them and they have the same stats as on PSO v2. Third, there have been no new reported challenge levels and battle is the same. Fourth some of the bosses have glitches like the barba ray and the gar griffon. The barba ray will glitch when hit when it is coming off the raft after being beached. The gar griffon will glitch when he is running around on the playing field, he'll start "teleporting" so to speak meaning he'll start running and then stop in a totally different spot. Ive noticed this with the griffon only in hard and vhard. My friend has not beaten seabed though on ultimate, so after that we will know if there are any other changes.
Im having fun with it, but im pissed at how few changes ST added. Basically they just added like 2 new levels and some new enemies and fixed up the rares and maybe added some new ones, and added in some new items/mags what not. Basically your gonna be going from lv 1-200 in the same old same old.

What about thinking about the "others" for a change? didn't it occur to you that there are new people that come to the genre and play the game? not only us oldies have played all the past version. Hell not every GC owner had a dreamcast. Nor heard about the game.

But what about the multiplayer? And the downloadable Game Boy Advance games? And that stuff I heard about getting rare weapons through the e-card reader? (Or did I imagine that last bit?)

There's also the fact that not everybody who did play the old DC PSO got PSOv2 in the first place...I was strapped for cash when it came out, and by the time I had the money, it was already gone from the sleves around here _permanently_.
I'm sure a few other people had similar problems, or in some way missed out on v2 initially.
uhh i guess many of u cant read the title: why gc pso is not worth it after dc v2

Considering how the GS connects to the Gamecube, odds are low that the really nasty cheats will make their way to GC PSO (like NOLing, PKing, etc). That's reason enough to go for the game compared to v2. Them fixing the rares system is another bonus so that not all new items are impossible to find. Challenge mode only has one stage up at the moment so it's too early to assume anything for that. Maybe there will be a seperate challenge mode for both Ep. I and II levels eventually. Same with battle mode.
My only major complaint with it is the possible large delay, in part thanks to ST not fixing a somewhat obvious duping glitch (if it is what I think it is).

You also forgot about the three new characters and the complete rebalancing of all character classes. Now that it's much more balanced before, Forces can hold their own in Ultimate mode just as well as the other classes.

When you have to something else to say, just edit your post and add it in. Also, please tell me where you have seen the actual GS for GC....

gc pso was supposed to only be connected to dc pso, only including 2 new char classes, and multi player mode... im happy about the changes..

I agree totally... Sonic Team is obviously milking this series like deranged Squaresoft employees! I am disappointed... Here's hoping ST gets it right the next time :/

From what I read a while ago, the GC Gameshark is supposed to connect into the modem port. Yes, offline cheating can still happen then but they wouldn't be able to go online with the cheat device and cause the havoc that ruined DC PSO.
Yeah, guess I should've edited that. Just that not everyone goes back to read old posts so any new info inserted into it would most likely be bypassed.

There are only 3 games I like on GBA, Mario Kart, Golden Sun, and Sonic Advance... Anyway back on topic I'm really pleased with what Sega's done, at least it wasn't delayed for forever to get every glitch out(although I wouldn't mind a delay for the duping). And yes, the Gameshark goes into the modem port and codes aren't saved so there's no online cheating from that. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I pretty much wish the DC never died in the first place. I don't want to get the GC just for PSO..
hmm if u guys didnt know on dc the gs thing was just used for saving cheats and loading up the gc, after u booted the game you could pull it out. With the gc gs you put it into the modem port, load the cheats then pull it out and replace it with the modem.

No, see with the Gameshark for Gamecube, the codes won't be saved. It's different from the one on DC. It was confirmed somewhere, but I'm not exactly sure where the link is :/. Anyway they made it so that no cheats can go online, except for cheats that were made and saved offline like hacked weapons. Hopefully those will be taken care of in some way too, but that's unlikely.

Well I can safely say you have no taste in games. Next you'll be saying how Britney's Dance Beat is the best game ever.
I already have about 11 GBA games I can happily play for hours, and the future line up looks good too (Metroid Fusion, Golden Sun 2, Zelda Advance and more)...
...I sound like I'm advertising again. I do that too much. And don't say it's shit. It's *ahem* 'shit' in your opinion. Just becuase you don't like it, it doesn't mean it's *cough* 'shit'.

why didnt you mention some of the other stuff you can have a blast in the lobby you can sit on a chair then you can scoot across the floor in the chair you can even play lobby soccer on a chair =P
ok ok yeah its fun to play, im havin a blast, but im just pissed cuz ep2 ultimate isnt any different. I mean ep1 ultimate is different but why not ep2 omg!!1111
For one thing, all those glitches are going to be fixed when ST releases the patched version in 1 or 2 months. Second of all, how do you know all this crap about PSO GC when you haven't even played it? Finally, even if some of the things are the same, I'm still going to have fun with all the new stuff.

Hey I'm getting the game just because it's on a next gen system. Also I'm waiting for the Xbox version, because if Sonic Team is smart they'll include patch updates to prevent hacking (and new weapons), instead of being forced to deal with it like PSO for DC did and possible PSO GC.

Hey the bad thing about PSO ver2 is that is in a dead system! and anyone plays.
PSO GC is in a new system, a borning system where new people will keep coming for years surely. Even if it were only v2 I would get it, but is a lot more!!!!
And complain about challenge.. and battle.... the game is just released, and ST will add new things with time. And i dont see the problem with no different ultimate in ep2. What I look more for is the rebalancing of the characters and now there's more variety, no more forest-ruins runs one after the other

Chaos Knight: So that explain the delay huh? look GS isn't coming out, or at least not soon. IF freeloader isn't coming, nor is the GS. Why? retards can't put in the information on a GC cd. And those Gfaqs rumours are fake, besides it gives you nothing. You can remove it afterwards.
Sedyne: Heh like that other person said, you got absolutly no taste in games. You technically saying every NES, SNES, GENESIS, SEGA, Saturn, 2d game sucks. Heh ever heard of classics? are graphics all you care about? jesus don't hate Golden sun because it's on a GBA!!
Meh, who am i to convince, you hate it. Now go play your cool ps2.

Amen. I think that a lot of old games are cool. Shining Force, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana and more. Just because the gems is old doesn't mean it sucks. In fact, there were alot more good games then than thre are now because people had to focus on content becuase there weren't good graphics to impress the eyes.

Despite what was listed, I still want PSO. I mean, even though some things weren't as updated as they should've been, some things were added that weren't going to be added. As long as I have as much fun as I did with the DC version of PSO, I'll be satisfied.

Have you heard of buying new games. It helps. I cant really see how you can comment on a system whne youve only played one game. Oh well.
