It is an update to the system section called My Room. The update goes more in depth about where certain things are in your room.

yep looks pretty freaking cool!!!

I was showing these shots to my friend so...here ya go. All of them aren't there though I took out some of the ones I deemed unimportant.

On a side note. Is that guy in Picture 3 thinking to himself? His chat window is all different

The fifth picture looks like the load/save screen?

So 4 characters per account.

And looks like the 10 star rating for items is back - 3 star shoes in the 9th pic! We all knew rares would be returning, but it's nice to see the stars anyway. And obviously rare clothing means a whole new dimension to rare-hunting http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I see they updated the "My Room" area of the site for today. I think this is one of the most extensive sections on the official site right now. I can't wait to see EspioKaos's translations.

TheRealAero, those are nice rips. However, I like to have all of the images when performing news and guide updates. Also, I maintain a collection of all of the images that have appeared on the site.

Nash
Feb 10, 2006, 07:24 AM
Yeah, I'm looking forward to any translations as well. Especially for the options shown in the last screen above.

And also whether you are giving that weapon to your partner machine to upgrade, or to feed. If GHX005 is his name, it does look like it works in a similar way to mags, with the 4 ability bars. So it's probably feeding.

Guess robots like the taste of metal!

Holy Shit, they implemented a box so that you can transload items between your characters????

I have only sent like 50 forms for that on BB...

Notice how the guy at the bottom right of the second pic on the first column has a "thought balloon" instead of the usual speach balloons.
I'd say this confirms we can do the character have "thoughts" as well as regular "speach".

Heh...it seems theRealAero pieced the images together and turned it into one giant mosaic.

Anyways, I turned it into a URL tag so the tables would not be stretched.

I'll work on translations later this evening after I get off work and back from the gym.

Glancing over some of the screenshots I see we're given some weapon names. For example, the pique, which is a type of spear. The gigush has returned as a sword, and there is one screen showing twin power guns. On that screen, it seems like the power guns actually have slots similar to armor in PSO. In those slots, the following items have been inserted: imu photon, keleserin, hapotite, and bal epon. No idea what any of those items do. Hopefully the site will explain once I've done my translations. Other points of interest include the visual phone (photon wave) which is used to select free missions in story mode and mail, shop, and call on friends in network mode. There's also the dressing room and a section on decorating your room, both of which speak for themselves.

OK. I've got to get ready for work now. I'll start on word for word site translations once I get home this evening.

Little thing I noticed while, once again, looking and examining the pics even more.
I'd say the pics are all from the PC version (at a PS2 resolution of 640x480 and resized down to make it worse), because in many pics where we see confirmations we see the "enter key" icon (shown as that curved arrow indicating a carriage return) and the "backspace" icon (shown as a square "BS").

Going by these posts I can infer 2 things:

1. Shopping for rare clothes is going to be like Macy's or some other dept stores during holiday times. Basically, crazy!

2. Going on these 4 'slots' as said for weapons & romanization, Id say 1 of the slots would be the element, 1 would be for the PP count. Perhaps a 3rd would be the %. I cant say about the 4th. These are just guesses tho but most likely are the ones included.

I think I figured out what the weapons pics are about. It shows 5 possible combos of weapons you can carry, 1 of which is showing a +(number). I think what Ethan is doing is grinding his weps with the help of Pete. Youll also notice other menus where PP & % are shown so that will reflect a specific wep

Whoops, messed up on the colors. On first read I thought they referred to weps. Theyre color adjustments for each piece of clothing. I guess you go into a closet, like Resident Evil & thats where you customize your clothing. After reloading the new data, youd probably come out with the changed clothing, almost like going into another room & changing.

I know Espio will get further into this, but, I think thats whats being shown.

Um...well said. LOL

I do love the Japanese decorations for the room. I was hoping such things would be available. Theyre DEFINITELY going in my main's room. I even see what looks like a monster encased, which means we might get to keep trophies. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif I also noticed Ethan's sucking up a lil with the Guardians Colony poster on his wall. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

In recent pics, Ive noticed various spots where items could be stood up. That being the case, I hope we can place items wherever we want. My hallway would be full of tropies so my room could be more of a traditional Japanese setting (for my main).

Screenshots as pics would be nice, but, would be better as a photo album to start. If we could save them as such, maybe get links so we can access them on our computers, regardless of which version we'd get. Makes you wonder if there will be mirrors & if so, will the reflection be realistic? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I think shared bank is more of a dropbox for exchanging items between your characters and your team, rather than being a completely shared version of the PSO bank.

The section on the official site seems to show you using it to swap items between the 4 characters saved on your account. Although a complete translation of it would clear it up.

OdinTyler
Feb 10, 2006, 03:17 PM
Well, I long ago predicted at least a small shared bank between your chars. Lets hope it comes true! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

This brings me to an interesting point, when we get more kinds of clothes, Are they going to be beyond what you can dress your character in when you FIRST customize them? Like new shirts and what not? Cause if so, that'll be sweet.

Scenario: Hold on a sec before we go onto this mission, I've gotta get out of my "street clothes!"

I was imagining this stuff ALL day today

It would be cool if you could unlock certain outfits in the game. That way your character would be even MORE unique.

Nash
Feb 10, 2006, 05:24 PM
Well from the star-rating on the shoes in one of the pics, I think it looks likely you will be finding clothes in item-boxes.

Including rare ones.

DizzyDi
Feb 10, 2006, 05:49 PM
I meant clothing, not equiment really. Of course you'll be able to get rare items and weapons and whatnot but I'm talking about rare clothing for your character. Like a cool lookin out or something, ya know?

Nash
Feb 10, 2006, 05:55 PM
Yeah, the dressing-room picture shows shoes with a 3-star rating.

The stars are for rarity, so there will be rare clothing.

OdinTyler
Feb 10, 2006, 05:59 PM
Maybe clothes wont drop. Maybe they will just be rare in terms of shops carrying them. Some would be holiday-oriented so youd have to be on during certain days to get them. Maybe completing certain harder quests would yield some. Hey, if they dropped it would be great. Gotta wonder if you can find other accessories to add to your image in addition to normal customizable items.

Nash
Feb 10, 2006, 06:09 PM
I just wait for when the really rare items start getting found/revealed in-game. There's just so much potential with PSU, far more than just the rare Mags in PSO.

Sonic Team are going to go nuts with classic Sega items for your room - figures, posters, expect the jukebox will make a return as well.

And rare clothing like santa hats, clown shoes, angel wings ...

There's going to be so much! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Maybe... just MAYBE... your shoes will give you like, +3 speed
while your jacket gives you +10 body armor, because it's made out of photon-kevlar...

Like in, you know, any other mmorpg where you can change shoes/clothes...

I really hope it doesn't tho... i hope clothes are just for shows... but that would kinda explain the lack of a shield/barrier to boost your stats up.. which would, on turn, explain dual wielding.. oh well...

All i know is that i don't want to see every fu*king female characters wearing cat ears because they give you +40 int and every male character using either a pirate eyepatch or a surgeon mask cuz it gives you +10 whatever... i've had enough of those in Rose Online...

OK. Here's half of the translation. I'll have to finish the rest later. My eyes are starting to hurt and I'm getting pretty tired. (Long day, I guess.)

Raising and Transforming your Partner Machinery

[01] By giving your PM weapons and items, it will begin to grow, transforming into various shapes and overall becoming a more unique machinery.
[02] As your PM transforms, the items is creates will become better and more useful. The items is produces can also change depending on how your PM was raised.
[03] After your PM has transformed into its humanoid form, it will present you with its partner card. With this, you'll be able to summon your PM to go along with you on adventures and into battle.

Item Synthesis

[01] As you progress through the story mode, you will eventually receive a "synthesis kit." This will allow your PM to combine and create new items for you.
[02] As your PM evolves, the items it's best at creating will change as well! It is, however, possible for item synthesis to fail, leading to some unexpected results...
[03] Of course, you will also be capable of using item synthesis in network mode! Because there are a few minute differences with it online, you should experiment with it in various ways.

Video Phone

In your room there is an information and intelligence terminal called the "Photon Wave Communications Device," more commonly referred to as the video phone. In story mode, you can use the video phone to read mail from the Guardians as well as receive information on free missions,; in network mode it is used to transport to other players' rooms, search for shops, and invite others to your room, among other things.

Lets also hope that theres enough variety in how the forms look. Even if they end up all being humanoid cast types, we should have the option to customize how they look. That would so rock. If so, you can imagine all the cast players would have a bunch of Mini-Mes running around with them.

I was able to get one more section translated.

Changing Clothes

You can express your character's individuality by changing the clothes that he or she wears. This can be done in either the clothing shops within cities or in the dressing room set up in your room. (Only the clothes that you've purchased in shops will be available in your dressing room.) You can change your character's clothing in all modes of gameplay, however in story mode, it is necessary to have completed up to a certain part of the story.

I'll finish the last two when I get home from work tonight.

Your understanding of the clothing system is correct. You have to buy clothes if you want to wear them.

As for weapons maintenance, keep in mind you'll be able to give them to your Partner Machinery too to make items. So you can view that as yet another necessary expense.

As you invite Partner Machines to join you using their partner card, I think they will take up a place in your team like another human player would. They are there to fill up the numbers, and make soloing easier.

So it's still only going to be 6 max I think.

OdinTyler
Feb 12, 2006, 01:06 AM
Yep, 6 max even with PMs. I asked about that awhile back & was unfortunately let down. Having 12 wouldve been insane, but, oh well. 6 still beats 4 in my book. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

And finally, the last two sections of my translation.

Coordinating My Room

At first, your room will lack style, however you will soon be able to coordinate and accent your room by placing various items about it. In story mode, Ethan's room only has three items spaces; network mode, however, has quite a few more spaces to work with. In addition, if you possess a "reform ticket" in network mode, you'll be able to change the design of your room.

Linked Storage Bank

In Phantasy Star Universe, you can have up to four different characters with a single online account. Each character will be given their own separate rooms and partner machinery. In your room, there is something called a "linked storage box" which allows different characters from the same account to share and exchange items that are deposited into it.

Well, if its anything like mag raising, Im sure there will be different looking humanoid forms. That or there will be the ability to customize how it looks. So it would have 1 form with options. phew, thanks for all the translation espio
I doubt ST would limit the number of variations possible on the PMs, we can hope they give us some variety http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Maybe they can give us some little male android looking PMs too, i mean why does it always have to be eleanor-like?

Well, cause Elenor rocks & shes 1 of the only chars in PSO without some hidden ulterior motive or flat out sneakiness. Even the good guys were suspicious. I do agree tho that there would be some flexibility on looks. According to 1 of those pics (& a translation), Lumia gives you her Partner Card. So some how, your (Ethan's) lil sister will come to your aid? LOL This oughta be good! Whats she gonna do nag you to death then whip you with her pigtails? LMAO

XD That'd be hilarious! But, actually, it wasn't a partner card Lumia gives Ethan, but instead an item synthesis kit for Pete.

seems that the clothes will have their own stats :-/ I was hoping they would not do this. I hate when im playing a game and i find something that looks really cool, but its stats are pretty bad. And now, people will probably be wearing more of the same things, since they will want better clothes stat wise, instead of having what they think looks good.

This is my first post ^_^

I would love the partner machinerys to be able to evolve into monsters/ robots seen in the Previous PSO Games.
I can imagine running around with a Cast and having a PM that looks like a Sinow Beat or Baranz , while having those abilities.

On the other hand, do you think you could swap weapons that your humanoid PM is carrying?
Id love to see a 2 foot maid carrying a 7 foot Sword around. >_<

Well, I wouldn't say that quite yet. These things seem to simply have names not stats. Also, ST added a description to give it more reality to it and make it seem cooler. Cause hey, do you want to wear awsome, air sole sneakers, or Samurai Jack sandals? Nothing against the sandals though. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

If it's like it was in PSO, the stars represent rarity. Otherwise, there are no stats listed for any of the clothes you can purchase. Plus, SonicTeam mentioned on the official site that the clothes you dress your character in won't affect their stats. The properties of the SLS imbedded within the clothing seems to remain the same for all styles of clothing.

Actually with online that wont work. Given that its server-side, it will save no matter what. Offline is a different story. At least you can practice crafting there.

Espio, why would Lumia have the synthesis kit? I thought Ethan was the Guardian. Youd think he'd know more about PMs than his lil sister.

On that note, what's Tylor doing with an A-photon reactor at one point of the story? He's no scientist. (Rhetorical question -- with spoilers; don't highlight it if you don't want to know! -- as I know what he was doing with it, but it's the same basic relation as Lumia with the synth kit.) I'm just going by what the screenshot tells me. I guess it's possible that she bought it for Ethan as a present for graduating Guardians Training Academy, as Ethan would've just gotten Pete from the school in honor of his graduation. At least, that's the best reason I can think of for her having the kit. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Linked Storage Bank

In Phantasy Star Universe, you can have up to four different characters with a single online account. Each character will be given their own separate rooms and partner machinery. In your room, there is something called a "linked storage box" which allows different characters from the same account to share and exchange items that are deposited into it.

That's just sweet. But now this begs the question: Can we have multiple accounts? You just know some people are gonna want more than 4 characters.

OdinTyler
Feb 13, 2006, 11:02 AM
I dont see why not. Thats up to the individual person if they want to get more than 1. Besides, you think ST is gonna tell you "No, we cant accept more of your money at this time." Pfft, hell no! Of course, theyll allow it. LOL Personally, I think 8 wouldve been more fair, but, I understand why they did 4 chars only:

1. Allows you to play 1 of every race.
2. If each acct has less chars, that allows more ppl to sign up & still ease congestion.

Nash
Feb 13, 2006, 11:12 AM
As it's tied to your SegaLink ID, all you'd have to do is create another ID and log-on with that instead for 4 more characters. Obviously each account has it's own amount of credit, so you'd have to pay again.

Might be different with the US/EU versions depending on what they decide to do about SegaLink in the West.

I'm going to speculate that the "orb color" corresponds to the elemental damage that a weapon can inflict. In this instance, the element would be ice.

Also, it is interesting to observe that Partner Machinery have the same types of stats that mags do. Does that mean that PMs will also increase your character's stats?

Does the "Search for a Shop" option correspond to the Player-Run shops feature? If so, that would be evidence that player-run shops might make it into the final version of the game. Also, what does "View Visited Areas" mean? Will it give you an overview of areas you've viewed before or allow you to actually visit them again?

I doubt it. Remember, this time around they'll come along to fight with you, so they've got to have some of ratings to determine what they're capable of. Hmm... DEF might actually have a point this time...

I can see it now:

"OMGWTFBBQHAX!! y my mag die so quikc?"
"You didn't raise your Partner Machine's DEF at all, did you?"
"def is useless on mag u noob"
"*sigh*"

I'm not exactly sure what the PM is trying to synthesize here. Is it trying to improve the abilities of a gun or make a new weapon? Also, what purpose do the slots serve and what are Imu Photon, Keleserin, Hapotite, and Bal Epon?

To speculate, perhaps it's like Soul of a Blacksmith, only the entire game is full of different components. You take them to your Partner Machinery, and it will forge them into a weapon type that you specify. Different components affect the stats on the resulting weapon. Putting more components into it increases the power of the weapon, but reduces the chances of a successful forge; using four "slots" makes for a tougher weapon forging than, say, two.

I wonder why they implemented thought balloons? It seems that other people will be able to see them. Also, what kind of person sits down and thinks, "My Thoughts"?

Niftiness factor and/or roleplaying tool?

Does this mean the Twin Saber is a distinct weapon type that you will have to acquire? I just figured you would just equip two Saber-type weapons.

It could be that you can register them as a paired set for easy management. It would far more annoying to have to take both Sabers out of the bank and equip them individually than to simply take the paired set out and equip them. It's half the steps, and you could easily have "Split" or "Pair With..." options on single-handed weapons. Of course, that doesn't explain why they've only got one set of stats listed... maybe they average them when dual-wielding?

And is it just me, or is everything made by the G.R.M. Corporation? O_o

Eh? I always used DEF on a mag...

Also I can already see myself using those thought bubble text boxes for various (perverted) jokes.

"I hope that Newman girl that just joined doesn't catch me sneaking peeks of her butt... Oh damn. Did I think that out loud?"

Kupi
Feb 13, 2006, 06:43 PM
Generally, people who were going for maximum stat efficiency wouldn't put DEF on a Mag. DEX was far more important an investment given that you couldn't find Hit Materials, and Power and Mind could be raised much more easily to greater immediate gain (equip a new weapon, learn a new Tech, etc.). Sure, it isn't totally useless and more power to you if you did raise it (I gave up after a woebegotten attempt to raise a Bana that ultimately did not produce the target Mag), but a lot of people didn't.

I have a feeling that "thinking out loud" joke is going to get a lot of use as time goes on. XD

Heh, pretty much seems that way. GRM produces the weapons the Guardians of Parum use. (Still don't know what it stands for, though. Probably Guardians -something- Manufacturer, or something along those lines.) Don't worry though, you'll see weapons from other makers throughout the game. For example, take a look at Leogini's sword that he has thrown over his right shoulder in some of his official artwork. The text on the end says "Tenora," as in "Tenora Works," the leading weapons maker of Moatoob. There's also Youmei, based on Neudaiz. I wonder, though, if we'll see other weapons manufacturing companies aside from those three?

With all these topics of various companies making weps & having a monopoly on a certain planet, one thing comes to mind: war. There wont be just fierce competition in selling, but, why have these factions work on creating weapons? Usually when a company gets a contract to create such things, its for the purpose of war. You gotta figure the Guardians get some. So does Magashi & the AMF. Then, maybe Beasts would get some since they would prefer to be independent (tho they may not be.
We of course cant forget the C.O.G. of Neudaiz. Afterall, what would a large church be without its military. I can see such things leading to quests for 1 or more of these organizations. Not that its a bad thing. We'll just get to learn more about each of them & see what theyre all about, not just what we know of so far.
