Man! It's been a year since I've posted here. I just sorta burned out on PSO v2.
But I'm tempted to get the GC version, if only for the 4player offline mode. I like to play games with my daughters and some of you boys are rude! (^_-) http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif So playing offline with my girls will be a blast! (Yeah, some of us "old timers" still enjoy video games...http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

So I have this manga (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1383702890) that I'm trying to sell to somebody who wants it (making room for new stuff), but I've been away for so long I can't remember where the best place on this site is to announce it. Hey, cut me some slack. Your memory goes when you hit the ripe age of 35. And your taste buds! I actually enjoy prune juice now!.. OK, I'm just kidding. (^_^)

So, I dusted off PSO v1 and logged on for the first time in ages the other day and was nolled within 5 minutes. Geez! My mind boggles that a Gameshark can do that. Since I don't want to pay for PSOv2 online access anymore, what do some of you PSOv1-ers do to avoid the gameshark kiddies and meatheads?

Good luck selling the manga.

As for avoiding all the Gameshark kiddies..hmm...I haven't played in a very long time. The last time I played, I was FSOD'd or what the hell ever it was and all my unequipped items were lost(READ: All my rares).

That was the last straw for me, I just did'nt pick up the controller to play PSO Vers 2 after that.

Now I'm waiting for the X-box version.

Again, good luck with selling the manga, and I hope you have fun with the GC version.

KEKEKE, YOU SAID MEATHEADS!! XD

Well, I remember in the old days we would avoid popular ships like Oberon, and even Ariel. Obviously at this late in the game, you won't find amny of us on the servers to arrange a game, since the GCN version of PSO is going to be released in the US October, maybe November due to newly discovered glitches.

Meatheads...*explodes with laughter*

Avoid western ships. LOL Good suggestion.

I didn't realize that GC PSO was going to be released so soon. Hmmm, tempting...

As for "meatheads", I [b]like[b] that term! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Here's a question for ya. The DC version of PSO was obviously riddled with security holes the size of a Winnebago. I've never seen a Gameshark used to to such extremes before. I mean, I liked the "walk thru walls" code. It was kinda neat. I especially liked the "save to other memorycard" code. But all good things can be abused and boy did they abuse the GS. Sweet Christmas! CK was the nadir of the entire PSO experience. In the end, what a waste of time and money. You couldn't play with strangers because you couldn't trust them, so your circle of friends grew smaller and smaller as your friends all became disenchanted and dropped offline for good. (I also grew weary of 12 year old kiddies standing in the lobby typing naughty words over and over again. Or all those nasty pornochat symbols. Give me a break). Remember the first month of PSO before duping and gameshark codes? The majority of players were fun to chat up. My guildcard was full of cool peeps to play with. That all changed so quickly. Then PSOv2 came out, but it was a game that was made artificially hard to prolong its shelflife for users. My level 106 character played for weeks and never found so much as a red handgun! The game became work, and people didn't chat outside their own circles so it became colder too. So what has Sonic Team done to prevent the same experience from happening to the GC version of PSO? Any word on that?

sega doing something?
no, nothing - just fixing the duping (the biggest problem for japanese players, because whats the idea of finding something rare, when everyone owns a dupe already...).
hey and one of my charas has half a dozen 'illegal' items and i never got kicked for a day or something like that.

i can just hope cheating doesnt get common by the time the european version gets released, which will be... lets say... next june?

(i dont really care about bugs - i just ask myself what is so difficult to release a game worldwide within a week especially when its allready translated? they even could recicle most of the old booklet, sheesh)

Well, the way I heard it, GS won't work w/ GC. If it's true, then it is a big plus, I guess.

Hmm.... 12 years kids.... I don't think there's anything ST can do about that....

I agree with you 100%. When I first got online with PSO, it was fun, my guild card had about 5 pages with people who wanted to have fun and play and beat the crap out of Falz. Online Gameshark codes came out, and as soon as PKing was available, f**king retards wanted to kill people just for the hell of it. People had to devolop codes to prevent them. I hate that, and I hope that Sonic Team can detect a Gameshark, and unactivate their serials if it is detected online.

Well, I'm glad to see others had the same wicked cool experience in the first month of PSO. It was the golden age for PSO, IMO.

OK, so the verdicts still out on some of those questions I asked. How about this, then? Did anybody else find the autocensor on PSO stupid and annoying? While I couldn't type words like "saturday" because it had the word "turd" in it, the 12 year olds just retyped their 4 letter lexicon into 3 letters... By habit, I don't generally swear. So it was always aggravating for me to be chatting with somebody when all of a sudden I @!#~!@ at them because the middle three letters of a word I typed were a somewhat naughty word in some third world country in an obscure language I have never heard about. I even kept a list of the stupidest words that got censored, but I don't know where it is now... I was wondering what Sega was going to offer us for censorship in the GC PSO.

What I propose is censorship in public lobbies and open games, but then turn it off in locked games. This would have the effect of helping the 12 year olds get the naughty words out of their system so they don't abuse the rest of us while they exercise their independence on their parents phone line in their parents livingroom on their parents TV. Man, you gotta feel for those poor shmoes. They've got real issues. (^_-)V,, At any rate, most people I played with at the beginning didn't need censoring, and found the random !@#$ annoying since it made them appear to swear when they weren't. And if the kiddies could swear all they wanted on certain servers or locked games, then they might not need to rebel so much. I personally feel they swore so much becuase they weren't allowed to.

Ahem, a bit off topic now , aren't we?

So does anybody know where I should advertise that manga of mine? I don't have anybody around here to give it to that would appreciate it. I'd like to see it sold into the hands of a true PSO fan.

you'll ship it to US only? .... why is that?
i somehow threw my eye on it by now - first non-hentai-doujinshi about pso, nice
since i'm from germany, the easiest way for me to pay for it would be sending the money as cheque or cash in a letter... is that meant by money order?

well...
about that swearing, i'd really like to see that list of yours...
and yes i'd vote for that 'no censorship in pw-games' too, its really a pain... at least they could make the routine a bit more intelligent (sparing names of weekdays p.e.) -_-;

Don't do that! You'll break the keyboard! Get your priorities straight. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I *do* accept check or money order, unless by "if only I had a freaking credit card" you meant that you wish you could spend imaginary money and sell your soul to the CREDIT CARD GODS!!! I hear that's one of the hottest alternative lifestyles these days... (weird new religions.... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

>you'll ship it to US only? .... why is that?

Because I'm an elitist American pig?

No, no...it's because I prefer to ship everything via United States Priority Mail. They provide the boxes and the prices are fairly easy to estimate for shipping by box. But I'm not adverse to shipping overseas. Heck, it's the closest any part of me will ever be able to afford to travel!!! (^_^)

>i somehow threw my eye on it by now - first non-hentai-doujinshi about pso,

Yeah, I know what you mean. Some of that doujinshi stuff is really raunchy. The non-hentai stuff exists, but it's not usually available on eBay... (-_-);;

>since i'm from germany, the easiest way for me to pay for it would be sending
>the money as cheque or cash in a letter... is that meant by money order?

Um, go ahead and bid on it. I'll figure out how you could pay for it if you win it. Heck, nobody's bid on it anyway, unless they're waiting to snipe at the last moment of the auction...

I bet international money order would be your best bet. I guess you could send me cash (the US Post Office is fairly trustworthy), but it would be risky.

Did you ever see those PSO graphic novels? That's what I was hoping a friend of mine in Japan would get me, but he sent me this instead! LOL It wasn't what I was expecting. Some of it is pretty funny, though... There's one with a rappy yakuza I think I remember... (^_-)

>about that swearing, i'd really like to see that list of yours...

I'll see if I can find it. It was pretty funny.
