Here is the Famitsu article:
http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/2006/02/22/104,1140595057,49033,0,0.html

You'll probably have to copy and paste the address into your browser's URL bar to get it to work.

The article seems to have additional information about the Photon Eraser and Photon Reflector. Could someone take a look at it and confirm that is the case?

Photon Eraser

The Photon Eraser is a unique piece of equipment which can destroy the zohma, or root system, of a SEED-form. In order to put a stop to a SEED-form that attacks with fire, you must lead a continuous attack on the zohma with the Photon Eraser. This will cause the barrier which protects the core to disappear, allowing you to attack the SEED core.

Photon Reflector

The effect displayed during an attack with a Photon Reflector is called "ice attack." In order to destroy an ice-based attacking SEED's zohma, this weapon must be used. Also, take note that the Photon Reflector can only be used when standing over a "Photon Spot," a spring-like area on the ground that overflows with photons.

oooh, sounds like it's going to be a challenge getting rid of SEEDs. Possibly a multi-person job.

Yes & based on how the weapons look, Rangers play an important part in this game. Naturally, Ethan can use any weapon so he plays that part in Story Mode.

Thanks for the translation Espio. That should give a bit more info on Seeds.
Hm..I still wonder if those Photon weapons are strictly tools for Seeds or enemies as well. ;]

It is probably for enemies overall as they seem to be element based. However, offline has a story to it so its pretty much regaled to SEED extermination.

The text under the pics with the dates just says to check out the March 10-17 issue of Famitsu (which went on sale this Thursday) for further details. Hopefully we'll get some scans soon. I'd like to see some more info on these SEED blooms.

Get all the way to the final boss, one more door blocked by a SEED, and then "Did anyone remember to bring that seed killing gun"?

lawl

Although I'm sure they'll still have the pipes and what not.

Hm, maybe just being nearby is bad for you (since they also "degrade" ther surrounding terrain)... Gotta move fast! :=)

While working on updating the Weapons guide, I noticed a couple of unique things about this picture.

1. The Photon Reflector has its own icon
2. There is no PP gauge for the weapon.

I wonder if the PP gauge only comes up when you are standing on a Photon hotspot?

Oh yeah, thank you for the translations EspioKaos.

Well keep in mind that this weapon is a story-driven device. It may only be usable in offline mode. Not saying its not possible online, its just thats the most likely scenario. PP will still show up normally as the points were shown in the demo I played. It being a story-driven device, it may or may not have PP at a particular moment. This is sort of like when Karen heals Ethan early on in the game. She wont be missing any TP because its part of the story & considered separate. Thats probably the same sort of thing here.

Since the reflector only works when you're standing over a photon spot, more than likely it just won't have a photon point gauge since it will lose its charge once you move off of the spot. There really wouldn't be any need to show its photon points otherwise since it would have none by default.

Karen? I thought she wasn't able to use technics despite being newman. Or, wait. Did you mean Mirei?

Jeux-France (http://www.jeux-france.com/news14800_psu-dans-l-espace.html) has put up four images from the latest issue of Famitsu. They don't really seem to have any new info, but we do at least get some new screens, some showing off the use of the special goggles needed to look for photon spots. Unfortunately, these scans are not of the full pages from the magazine, but instead just little clips. Hopefully someone will be able to provide us with full-page scans.
