View Full Version : Shit luck and MMORPGs

Something tells me I just don't have the required luck to play an online RPG. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

When I registered on Ragnarok Online, I made a swordsman, only to find out several levels later than it was the worst class of the game.

When I registered on Lineage II, I made a swordsman again, only to later realize that pretty much any melee class in the game sucked hard.

Then I made an archer on Maple Story and after more grinding than I thought possible, saw many other classes just tearing through enemies several levels above them while I surgically missed things below my level, much less survived them.

Finally, I thought "Hmm, I keep making a warrior guy and they all suck. Let's switch sides and go for a magic user." So, I made a Mutant Shaman on Auto Assault, and after getting past level 11, found out that out of the three races and their sub-classes, 12 possibilities in all, the Mutant Shaman was THE absolute worst combination of them all, taking more than 5 minutes to destroy an enemy vehicle below their level while other classes could tear an enemy apart, even if it was two levels above them (read: HUGE gap)

The only time where I pretty much striked bullseye was in PSO, simply because I made a character of each class!

I dunno. It's as if God intended to dissuade me from RPGs altogether. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

MMORPG's are generally clusterfucks of shit gameplay, and boring people. More or less, everything is unbalanced. And usually these people proceed to complain about games like FFXI's suckage, and still play it.

Even the "LOL U PHAG" playes of Steam games are more amusing to hang around with.

I agree, shallow and pedantic.

It's like you read my mind.

.. Not like you put that much effort into the other games >_>;

Then again, the concept of PSO, as well as other cooperative online games, is to have unbalanced classes to an extent, so people will be forced to work together, no ?

Err.

I'm not one to have to research every little aspect of a game before starting it up online and I don't think Shuri is either.

Once you get going, it should be as painless as possible to switch over to a more effective class or easier to play character-not just for the easy aspect but the non-annoyance factor you have when you're stronger at the same level!

For PSO, nobody will go near you like you're plague ridden if you don't use the absolute best class possible, in normal gameplay even!

For Challenge mode, fine. X player makes more sense than Y player. We will play if you use a lesser character but be forewarned, it will be much more annoying how your stats and character class shows its downfalls.

Maybe you're just not playing the class properly and that's why you suck, Shuri! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

It's easy to blame the game and the classes, but really, it comes down to the player involved.

Next time, do more research.

And Swordsman is not the worst class in RO. Don't be a whiner. ;P

I was thinking that too. Swordsman is far from the worst class in RO. Unless it was like alpha.

It takes patience and research to be decent in most rpgs..I used to be fond of RO..I would be playing it all day still if I had a decent, non-virused computer..ah good times. I was king.

Go to Guild Wars. There are PLENTY of players on there that will DEFFINATLY suck worse than you. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Trust me. I know. I, unfortunatly, have gamed with them. >_<

I think the point is that he shouldn't have to look into it to find out what's best. Classes should be balanced(I make myself lol when I say that).

Personally, I've never had a problem using bad race/classes or combinations of them. If I later find out a tarutaru warrior is bad, I still stick with it! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

I usually don't even care what class isn't balanced, I decide what I'd like my character to be, and just go with it. If it's not fun, or not working out, then I'll give something else a go.

Uahahahahahaahahahahaha.

Instead of choosing your character next time, pick out of a hat!

...at least then, when you find out its the wrong character, you'll know it was the hat's fault.

I said maybe, shurikins. ^_~

And sure, come to guild wars. I play. Well, I'd play more if I had someone competent to play with. That game is so not solo friendly it isn't funny. Didn't realise that when I got it, but oh well. <_<

Though, you might just get as pissed off with GW. I mean, even I get pissed off at it all the friggin time. >_>
