I think this is a case in which religion and science are in perfect accord. Let me explain...
Here we see both the divine hand of God and the principle of natural selection at work. By drinking himself to an early grave, Shadowpawn is not only submitting to the will of GOD but also providing us with an example of "variable reproductive success (more commonly known as survival of the fittest)" in removing himself from the gene pool. We salute you, Shadowpawn, for helping to harmoniously unite faith and reason.

In all fairness to myself, it sounded cleverer in my head.
