They are in a bunch of jibberish? I know I have japanese font, but why can't I read it or put it in babel fish?

Also its April 17th in Japan. When are they going to tell us about the Beta?

Are you using a web client or traditional email client? I haven't had any problems using gmail for Sega Link.

As for the Beta, we don't have any idea. We'll just have to wait and see.

Are these the emails you got for signing up for the beta or just within the past few hours?

I believe the OP is speaking in general.

As for Yahoo! mail, I haven't tried it.

I get the feeling we'll get an official site update once the registration period has ended. And even though it's already the 17th in Japan, it's only early morning, so SonicTeam will probably keep taking applications until the end of the day. Hopefully confirmation e-mails for those lucky enough to have gotten in the beta will be sent out shortly thereafter. At least, I hope so. I'm on pins and needles waiting for some type of update on this. o_o;

Hotmail accounts:
1. Click Options in the top right hand side of the screen.
2. Then click Mail on the left hand side.
3. Go to "Mail Display Settings".
4. Set "Message Headers" to Advanced and click OK.

Now when viewing a JP e-mail and it's text looks something like this: "B$41~Jg$"$j$,$H$&$4$6$$$^$9!ZSEGA link"
Click the link at the top of the white message box (normal says something like "Content-Type: text/plain" and its under the "View E-mail Message Source" link).
You know what to do from here.

EDIT:
Yahoo accounts:
Sign up for the new yahoo mail beta (it has some options we need).
When viewing the message, click "More Actions" and go to "Set Encodings" -> "North Aisa" -> "Japanese (ISO-2022-JP)"

You should go on a Japanese website and check whether your fonts work there, if they don't your font is obviously not correctly installed.

If it's installed you might be using the wrong font encoding in your web browser, which can hinder it. Change to a Japanese one (EUC-JP, ISO-2022-JP, Shift_JIS).

It worked. After it opens the new page in text/plain remember to select the language. IE doesn't necessarilly recognize it automatically, same for firefox.

For Hotmail you can view the whole Sega Link email in Japanese by going to options > personal > language and then selecting the 13th language option. Of course youll have to remember your way back to change it back to english.

Just so you know folks, Babelfish sucks for Translating anything that doesn't use roman characters. Use http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/ to translate to and from japanese. alot more accurate.
