Just drag your ass to Best Buy, they will done smite your ass mightily if you so much as even think about about reserving something. You see they are smart, they got tired of not being able to buy Mary Kate and Ashley games because all the local registered sex offenders preordering them into oblivion. So Mr T says "Fucks that, I am sick and tired of not being able to ride ponies and talk about cute guys because of all of those sucka foos reserving all my games wit their jibba jabba."

That's the thing. Nintendo wo'n't let my retailors to prereserve modems for ANYONE!!! The dude who works at the place said you can reserve 'em online, either broadband or narrow. Other than that, it'll be impossible to get a modem until next year, it seems...

I'm a Nintendo-direct dealer....which is the top priority ranking. I just received the newest release and pricing list.......and it states that it is indeed October 29th.
I have no date for the XboX edition YET......but it is now in Microsofts hands.

I reserved PSO, but not the modem. I think I will be able to get it, I dont live in a big area.

Careful there, Dangerous.
The modems are allocated.....which means that they are distributed to stores that meet or exceed certain sales quotas. If your local store doesn't sell tons of GameCube product....they don't get.
The reason that these are allocated....(get THIS)....is that since PSO is the ONLY online game that is CURRENTLY planned for the Cube, sales forecasts for PSO are lower than first projected. Couple that with that problem at the docks.....and MOST Cube owners WILL NOT get a modem.

Good grief merlin, what do you think all of us should do?
I've assumed that I'll just waltz into my local GameStop or EB Games and nab a copy on the 29th (or whenever it arrives) - should I suck it up and preorder it online instead? I don't wanna pay $30US for overnight shipping, but then again I'd rather shell out the cash than end up waiting til November because I'm SOL with the local stock.
...And what of the ASCII keyboard controller? It hasn't been formally announced for North America yet, has it?

I'd rather spend extra money and be guaranteed one than hold a tight wallet and be left out in the cold. =
Infact, if it's going to be that bad to get a modem/BBA, then I might get one before I even get a GC just to make sure I have it.

"pre-ordered BBA from ebworld.com along with pso last week" that's the way to go guys...and the modem WILL BE OUT BEFORE PSO both of them released on Oct. 23rd.

FLYROBIN!!!!
How are you????!!!
Ghent (on PSOW here) is a customer of mine and he was kind enough to bring in his ULTRA sweet ascii Cube hybrid keyboard in last night for me to test out.
FlyRobin.....this IS gorgeous. How to describe it. I played StarFox with it for about 45 minutes or so. I forgot that it was a keyboard. It is SO relaxed that I HIGHLY recommend using one for ALL Cube games. It weighs hardly anything more than a standard controller, since the keyboard uses laptop keys...not the full size ones from the DC. The keys "click" slightly...you don't press them at all. The only problem I found is that the start button is hard to hit since it's actually recessed.
Now.....after saying all of THAT, I wouldn't personally use one for PSO, but I WOULD for every other game out there. They keys are too small for the constant rapid conversations of PSO. I'm going with the standard controller and separate keyboard instead.
As far as the shortage? Cross your fingers that the import problems get solved. I can't stress ENOUGH that prebooking guarantees you NOTHING. ZIP. JACK SHIT. When a product is allocated NO STORE KNOWS how many units they will receive until the box arrives at the door. It sucks and I hate allocations...but it's becoming more commonplace every with big name stuff.
