There are only 4 quests currently, and not the entire shop.
About the quests, there are two on the Spaceship colony, and two on Palm.
It looks pretty empty, but it should get bigger and bigger. I'm wondering when they'll send the others mails...

From what I can get from this picture from the official site, item synthesis is done on boards. Basically, it seems you're given a type of board to add items to. Then, I think you give it to your PM and it will attempt the synthesis. Successful synthesis results can depend on what items you put on the board. And from what Sonic's PM says, he's got 32 open spaces left with this particular board. The item description box says the following:

Board / Monomate
Synthesis board for HP recovery liquid
Sweet berry
Trans acid

A little tidbit I got from the character creation screens...

It seems that beasts and casts won't be able to use their special attacks (nanoblast and SUV weapons, respectively) until they reach level 20.
