I would imagine it's on your C drive now that it's been installed. For example, the music in blue burst was located in C/program files/sega/phantasy star online/data/ogg

Just look in your program files under sega and find the PSU folders, they've got to be in there somewhere. Once you find them, they'll probably be ogg's so you'll need winamp or the appropriate codec to play them.

if the music isn't already in a common format(like wav), then you probably won't be able to listen to it.

If you find out the filestructure the file has and dll file the game uses for sound you can extract the files and listen to them.
I could probably do it in 5 minutes, but I am sure somewhere in the agreement I agreed to there is a part that prohibits this. I think this is considered reverse angineering even if it is so simple to do it.

My advice, be patient till the game releases and you can get the album.

It'd probably be considered reverse-engineering, even though you'd just be uncompressing something (EDIT: oh, you pretty much said exactly that http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif). Hopefully the full version will have a music room. I'd actually prefer a jukebox like in EP3, so you can enjoy things with friends.

well the files are all numbers and letters, no visible extensions

Extensions don't say a thing about a file. Mostly they are used to recognize which program is needed to open the file, but the files work the same without the extension.
Filestructure can in most cases be found by opening a file in a hex-editor and reading the first 4 bytes in ascii signs. For example most audio/video have RIFF structures.

And thanks Ziro_Natsuke for beleiving me. I've spend some time editing graphics in Japanese games. Once you get hang of it, it is rather easy accesable. If only they didn't include that NDA, I never go back on a agreement (honour issue).
