PS2 offline

I was wondering if PSU is gonna need an internet connection on PS2 to play offline. cuz I've seen some japanese sites mentioning use of internet accessories for psu, although they didnt say if it was gonna be required for offline or no. Does anyone know?

As far as I know we don't know if PS2 PSU will require to be constantly online even when playing offline like the PC version.

Cuz it would be a pretty shitty move from ST since I'm not even playing to go online yet, as 67% of japanese people who are getting it for PS2
