OK rather than Overtax my Work PC(dell -_-) I've gone and brought a shiny new PS2.
Never in a million years would I have thought I'd buy another Sony product since my TV blew-up 3 years ago.

What I need to know is how to connect my NTL Broadband Box (USB cable) to my PS2, I've looked it up on google and most of the sites bog-down everything with jargon.

I need (In english *heh) simple step by step on how to connect the hardware and what i need to do to tell my PS2 to connect to the internet, since the last console I had was a DC.

First thing I need to know to help you out is what type your Ps2 is?

Slimline version, or the older chunky stuff?

Okay now just afew more questions.

What ISP do you use, and what type of connection do you have?

The good thing is that the Slimline model of the Ps2 already has the network adapter built in, so all you really need for it are the cabels.

My connection is a Broadband Modem with Both USB and ENET cables.

This is taken from an online faq, credit goes to Eric Lofgren.

"For a Direct Connection, you will need:

-One Cat5 twisted pair straight cable
-Broadband modem with Ethernet port

To setup a Direct Connection:

1. Make sure you have any network information needed for you to log onto the
internet available. This includes username and password (DSL only, otherwise
known as PPPoE information) and DHCP host name. This information is only
required if your ISP requires you to input it to connect to the internet.

2. Remove all cables from the broadband modem. This includes the coaxial
cable for cable modems, the phone wire for DSL modems, the Ethernet cable, and
the power cable. Let stand for 5 to 15 minutes. Plug all of the cables back
into the broadband modem.

3. Physically connect the Playstation 2 to your broadband modem. Plug one end
of the Cat5 cable into the network port of the network adaptor and the other
end into your broadband modem.

4. Place the startup disk (In the slimlines case, any online game will have the connection setup built in.) into the Playstation 2 and select ISP settings.
Follow the directions on the screen.

5. After you input the information for the necessary fields, save the profile
to your memory card."

I just added the part about the connection CD for slimlines. The setup should be included on the PSU disk. Hope that helps you out.

*EDIT* just to make it even clearer the type of cable it's saying you need is a basic ethernet cable. Almost any computer store will sell them. The cable I use for most things is actually one for an Xbox (which I don't even own) and it works just fine.

Ok, I went ahead using your step by step and then used the network disk that came with my PS2 and did these 4 tests it asked me to do and they all worked.
Looks like im able to connect now, all i have to do is wait for PSU.

Thanks ^_^
