It depends on which 6600 series model you are looking at. The only one I personally would suggest would be the GT. It is not much more than the basic 6600 but it provides an additional kick that could very well be noticed in game. Just be sure to choose the correct type, whether your board supports AGP x4/x8 or PCI-Express x16.

As for me, I'm currently running a single 7800 GTX at 490MHz core and 1300MHz VRAM. I'll probably upgrade this year when the first DirectX 10 cards hit the market. And if I have enough money, and the cards are priced low enough, I'll hope to get two of the G80 (or 81 or whatever the top happens to be) cards for SLI. Until then I am certain that the X800+ from ATI and the 6800GT+ and 7600+ from nVidia will be able to handle PSU at pretty much maximum settings with no ill effects so long as Sega built the engine better than the PSO engine. Of course, it might be only the X1600+ if Sega somehow implemented SM 3.0 effects in which case the X1000 series is the only group of ATI cards which can do that. But, like I say, I doubt that but it could happen.

I've been holding off building a new gaming/showcase machine until the new M2 boards are released along with the new FX62 from AMD (hopefully available this June.) Nvidia will be releasing a new 7950GTX 2 Dual GPU card very soon, so until the 8 series cards come out, I'll be using a Quad SLI setup with two 7950GTX 2's. It's overkill to be sure but when you build custom gaming rigs for customers, you need to be able to show off the latest technology (not to mention that I can write off much of it on my taxes since I have a Business License and Tax ID http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif ) I'll also be including a PhysX card in the machine (they are supposedly going to be available in May.)

Are you just too ignorant, "busy" or full of your self to consider learning anything? Insulting someone who KNOWS MORE THEN YOU ABOUT SOMETHING is highly.... well I don't worsen the subject. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

On topic: a 6600 will most likely do you fine, but if you want the maximum eye candy you'll want to upgrade.

My 6800 GT runs smoothly (haven't checked the true FPS) with max settings at 1280x1024. I haven't tried forcing any AA or AF though. And as a note, this is running with power only through the motherboard. I dont have the external 6-pin connector running to it right now.

I.. lol... use... lol... an NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX/MX 400. Let me tell you how it runs at the lowest settings (everything to the left, 640x400, LOD's to 0, textures compressed, 16 bit).

Heavy lag, other people are twice as fast as me.

Misplaced body parts, my lower arm is floating above my head and the text on my boobs floats out of my char too.

When I run, I run with my legs in front of me.

Don't even try to attack enemies in First-Person mode.

I have to press enter firmly to get an option. Also typing is hard.

Loading times suck.

Numerous other stuff. I'm just glad it runs at all.

The requirement is GeForce 4 so yeah. The stuff I get is probably because of my crud processor and motherboard too.

IM scared to death of this game not running, so Im gonna buy a new system, period.

Mines very old, pentium 3, intergrated card, blah blah.

Im thinking of shelling out some cash for that slick new alx thing. 4 graphics cards at once, insane.

Im prolly doing overkill, but I want obvilion to run on my comp at highest settings(and that is alot to ask of a computer http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

Ok, my post can verify that even people with SHITTY computers can run it.

I can run it in 1078x720 @ highest performance settings with no slow down.

My computer sepcs?

2.0 GHZ (intel I think...probably not though)
512 mb DDRRAM
18 gb HDD
GeForce 4 TI 4800 Graphics Card.

Does that help?

Why are a lot of people going apeshit over their computer specs when a PS2 can run it without any debate?

Its actually 2 graphics cards with dual GPU's which is exactly the same setup I mentioned in my previous post. Basically it's quad SLI. You have 2 dual GPU cards (giving you 4 GPUs) with double slot cooling and 2 SLI bridges instead of one. Alienware builds descent systems but honestly I can build a system that is not only cheaper but will bury any Alienware pc easily. If you want a killer machine and you have some familiarity with the inner workings of a pc, I highly recommend building your own. It's actually pretty easy and way less expensive http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Heh, no doubt. Unless you do alot of pc gaming and will actually utilize the added performance of an upgrade or new system, I agree it's probably easier to just get a PS2 and play that version and not have to worry about it.

Because some people prefer to play it on a higher resolution, and for those who don't own a PS2 OR Xbox360, OR the fact that their PS2 is an older generation and doesn't have the network adapter. Could that possibly be why? Or the fact they can do it to have easy picture capture/vid capture.

Well, thanks to many members who gave me info regarding my current card, GeForce Fx 5200, all i can say with it is that, if Pso runs at 800x600 with Medium Graphics, Psu will defenitly be 640x480 with Low low low low and omg? LOW! Graphics ;_;
Gotta get another card..before Psu comes, or else i'm dead..

You must relaize that as PS2 for how eak it is had dedicated hardware and the game is damn well progrmaed for it.
While a PC uses it's thign for things other thasn just running the game.
So unless your PC is a dedicated gameing PC, then you should look aroudn and see what ya got.

I assumed that Zephyr_ meant that he ran PSU at 1024x768 with medium settings. Personally, I have a Geforce FX 5200+, and hearing that it runs well at medium settings is quite good for me. I don't need all the bells and whistles with the 2x antialising and such. The fact that it runs decently, without glitches, is good enough for me. Chance are, I'd be running it 800x600 windowed anyways.

So you want me to buy a television and a PS2 ? Yup, I ain't got no television said ain't it ?

I never leave my computers anyways. Musics there, movies are there, my photos are there, Internet is there, why shouldn't my games be there as well ? Must understand that to some of us it is a way of life. Well not like I have time for computer much these days...working doubles at work blah...Haven't even had time for a decent workout...

Also what fun is a forum if we ain't got something to talk about. Oh we all have a PS2 oh no one can get into beta. That would suck...those screenshots and vids rock! Must build new computer! Stupid GeForce 4 MX 440! Stupid 256MB of RAM is not enough! Stupid Microsoft Wind...oh wait I need that to play the game... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif
