discuss!

Roy has power but marth is more agile.
Do you know what type of general strategies your opponents will have, aka will they favor power, speed?

Use Marth, he's both faster and stronger than Roy overall. Plus his range is better. Fighters that use their hands a la Mario will have a hard time getting in close and you can abuse big targets like Bowser.

Zarode

Use Ganondorf! Raw power and speed. :3

>_> Well, you gotta learn to break his speed barrier...but he's still good. ;o

The problem with Marth is that his strongest point is when you hit the opponent with the tip of the sword while Roy is more for close combt since his strongest point of his sword is the middle :e

Marth is good if they hit and run but not that good when the charge at you while I find Roy better in close combat overall.

well, since you don't know what strategies your opponents favor, an all around character should probably be considered. They should probably also have some form of long distance attacks.

Mastering Zelda/Sheik would be good, with the ability to change fighting styles and a semi-controllable long distance attack with Zelda is at your disposal.

My personal fav, Ness works well to, if you master him anyway. His PK thunder can be a real pain to your opponent if you master the stearing. If you use him though YOU MUST master hitting yourself with it, so you can get back on ledges from really far distances. Also, since anything he runs into after being hit with PK thunder is damaged, this wokrs nices against player who guard edges. His high jump is also useful, and he has a few short range attacks. He can absorb long range hits from guns and heal from it. The weaknesses of him though are his lack of brute defence and few power attacks. During some attacks he is completely open though.

Personally, I would not stick with marth or roy unless you know for sure you are going to be fighting a hand to hand match. They will be slaughtered if a skilled marksman fights them.

Samus is decent, but can pack a punch if used right. The mines are good for pestering enemies, especially if you master dropping them while in the air.

g2g now more later

That's what dodging and grabbing is for. I always dodge and grab my opponent to send them back into ideal range.

So can the other player depending on that players skill level.

Most of the time I find myself doing a dodging game for the first 10 mins of a fight before any real fighting starts and even then most of the time is just dodges with well timed hits.

But I would say the best character to good with like SORD said is a balance one like Luigi or pikachu since both a decent close range attacks and can also do some middle range attacks.

You don't want to use Luigi or Pikachu. Most of Pikachu's moves lack knockout power and his speed been narfed. Luigi isn't really good unless you master wavedashing and I don't know of Kuda knows how to wavedash fluently. If you want someone who's balanced I would pick Falco.

+Decent Power
+Strong Spikes
+Long Range Attack
-Slow
-Falls like a brick

Some sort of technique where you like slide accross the floor, (Sorta like how Luigi has forever weak stopping)

Also what happeend to the day where there weren't FAQs for characters, and the only FAQ was how to beat Giga Koopa or get Mewtwo <_>
