PSU will cost 1260 yen (8.94 EU/ 10.53 USD) for your first 30 days online. After that, it will cost 1050 yen (7.45 EU/8.78 USD) to renew your account each month, if you use the automatic renewal service. ~Phantasy Star Universe FAQ Updated 2nd March (http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=106082&forum=20)

Oh, I get it..
College...PSU..heh
That actually reminds me, whenever I looked for videos of the PSU beta, I'd always get Penn State University on Youtube. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

What I wonder if, in the US will we have the option to buy cards in stores? It's quite common in many stores, and I probably won't get a credit card for at least another year or two, so if I can buy fill-up cards, even if it costs more, that would be great. Otherwise I'm screwed until I can get a credit card.

You can also look around for nice people you know who got a credit card. A teammate that lives in the US paid my PSOBB hunter licence for me and for a friend (I paid him back with paypal every month) He even paid for me after he quit PSOBB, so just search for nice people or pray for gamecards, but don't count on it.

I'd offer to help you, but I give my money to my mom to cover the charge on her credit card, and she doesn't by into the whole paypal thing >_> (It's a hefty charge too. XBL Gold, 5.99/month, PSO HL 12.99/month [CAN], Runescape 7.99/month [CAN] and I frequently buy things from the Xbox Live Marketplace)

Yep, but that's just the currency conversion, Sega US/EU get to decide what they want to charge as the monthly fee regardless of what JP players will be paying, and they haven't made an official announcement as of yet, but I think we can expect the prices not to differ too much from what JP players will be paying.

I really wish they would something like the european RO server - you pay an amount for actual playing time (i.e. 15EUR for 30 hours). Then you could just use that up as you go.
Since I never know if I get to play every weekend...

Only if it was a separate option... That would totally screw the hardcore players http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

that would make sense, but then again we all know the world hates making sense.

I'm kinda curious why the first month is more. When, ya know, a lot of games first months are free.

I guess they're sure they'll get lots of PSO fans into the game without the trial month.

They probably justify it as a set-up fee or something. You're probably paying for the disk space your characters will require. It would be nice if you were also allowed to pay one time fees for more character spaces.

I guess extra mode is going to be the incentive for getting online, rather than a free month. Maybe the price for the game will be lowered since it doesn't have a free month though.

Yeah, that's the idea. Of course, if you play lots of hours, the monthly "flatrate" is adequate. But for occasional players like me, it feels wrong, you know http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
