This topic is going to be completely open to interpretation based on what people think, but here you go:
http://naomi.thewafflehouse.net/psu/
In this folder are eight video files, recorded in FRAPS using 1024x768x32, 60 fps, all graphics settings at maximum, and these videos are encoded in XviD. Basically these videos are of the Character Creation screen, with the height being changed for each character class and gender.
Each video lasts a second, but consist of all the frames required to identify at say, frame 0, the person is at minimum height = youngest, and frame 77 say, the person is at maximum height = oldest.
Take your best shots and decide what frame in each video determines what age!
To take part in this activity, you will require the following:
1. An XviD video codec (http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml) or similar MPEG-4 H.263 codec (not H.264).
2. VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org), for opening each AVI file and finding the frame in question before posting in this topic.
EDIT: Some initial impressions based on PSU character designs:
hu_male.avi frame 49 = 17 years (Ethan, Hyuga)
new_female frame 47 = 17 years (Karen)
new_female frame 59 = 24 years (Maya)
beast_male frame 0 = 26 years (Tonnio)
beast_male frame 88 = 31 years (Leo)
Note these are some rough estimates, your mileage may vary depending on what you see between the base character and the character(s) on the official website (http://phantasystaruniverse.jp). Things I noticed:
1. Using the official characters as a base for Casts is a very bad idea, as they sometimes have no age, or are extremely old (179?!).
2. Beasts go from 26 to 31 years based on this scale? This doesn't seem right.
3. Some characters can be short and still be old, so try to base the scale on what would be considered an "average-based scale". Ethan and Karen, for example, are excellent candidates. Of course, this is just my two cents, and you might decide people who are loli are 17 years old. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif
