The PSU images are supposed to be from the Xbox 360 version, even though the resolution still isn't in widescreen.


If these are XBox360 screenshots, I can't really tell any difference between them and high-resolution PC screenshots.

Anyways, it is nice to finally have some high-resolution screenshots available. Ethan is definitely showing off his Photon Arts abilities in these pictures.

thats because a high res monitor is the same as a HDTV i think...

if this is the 360 version I am gonna cry... but I don't think so, the Sonic screenshots ARE widescreen and the PSU ones are not, and HD resolutions are ALWAYS widescreen, so these are just highress PC screens.

If PSU wasn't made with the 360 in mind... Isn't it impossible for the game to look graphically different? I'm pretty sure that it's supposed to be a port. These are basically the same kind of comments that I spoke of earlier...

"These aren't next gen graphics!!!"

Yeah... This shouldn't be too surprising. Or am I missing something here?

Lol, I tried to explain this in a different topic, it's not going to look any different to a PC equivalent, it is after all a port, developers don't overhaul graphics for ports last time I checked, XD

If you're still not convinced those are 360 screenshots, take a look at these shots...

Xbox 360 runs games in 720p, that's a native 1280x720 resolution (16:9 ratio, the wide screen you were talking about), and those screenshots are 1280x960; that being a 4:3 aspect ratio, so I presume the game will run 4:3 being that’s it’s a PS2/PC port.

In either case, yes, that's pretty much what you can expect the 360 version to look like, don't expect any graphical miracles.

I just looked at the PC graphics setting menu and noticed that 1280 x 960 is one of the resolution choices.

I think it is safe to say these are PC screenshots.

Or they are pics of a direct port of PSUPC running on a 360 using the VGA cable (you can select 1280x960 as one of the possible display resolutions on a VGA monitor).

Just to note, the images from that website came from the Sega E3 Press Release kit. There isn't any indication in the kit as to what version the images come from.

I guess they don't look all too well because it is just a port. Might as well just get the PC version if ya can.

One of the reasons those images don't look very good on that website is because they've been overly compressed.

really its unlikely they will overhual the poly's or the textures for the xbox, though its possible, i doubt it.

Lol, why? because you can choose the same resolution on the PC version as the xbox 360 version? the 360 version is basically the PC version running in 720p, that's why the screenshots look similar, even if those are PC shots (don�t want to put my foot in my mouth) that's what we can expect the 360 version to look like http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Besides increased resolution, I would expect the 360 version to have improved visual effects such as better shadowing.

Until we learn what the source is for these pictures, we can't say for sure what system they are from. It is just my opinion that they could be PC screenshots.

Hehe, I'm just always quite pessimistic in my predictions, but you're right who knows, we could see some minor improved effects ala the water refraction and telepipe effects we saw on the GC/XBOX versions of PSO.

At this stage though, I personally believe we won't see any improvements over the PC's maxed visual settings, but I don’t have anything to back up my claims, and hey, all the better for 360 owners if I’m wrong http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Of course they could make the graphics better... its not as hard as you think, no they won't make the models higherpoly, but that is also nonsens these days cause normal maps makes ingame models look great.

they can easely: -higher the particles that are use cause of the 360's capability of physix.
- make realistic shadows and better looking effects.
- shaders for realistic water are soooo old.. Sonic next gen is using it to so why is PSU not using it?

possible things that I don't expect to happen: - they could have used the models from the cutscenes as normal maps.
- when I look at the textures for the grass and stuff I am really starting to cry, thats the lowest res texture I'v seen these days, I think my Dreamcast uses that kindoff textures. When I myself am making textures for my 3D projects than I first make them on very high resolutions like 2048x2048 zo I can resize them later. I hope SEGA didn't include the highres textures in the beta to keep it smaller..

but like Kassy said, I expect nothing better than the PC version, every little improvement is only a nice extra

Edit: Nevermind... It was pointless. Either way I wouldn't be easier for me.

Whatever they do with the game is up to ST. Who knows what will change and how it'll change. I just figured it was a port, and wasn't made with the Xbox 360 in mind... So I figured it would just look like the PC version.

If they change things, I guess that's great for you 360 users. I'm not involved with game design whatsoever... So anything they do doesn't sound like it'd be easy to me.
