is there any advantage to dual weilding 2 daggars or 2 sabers as opposed to daggar/saber saber/handgun etc.

In PSU, weapons that you can dual-wield are classified as unique weapon types. So, they have their own animations and Photon Arts.

Is theire any advantage to choosing these types? Well, that depends on the situation. In a one-on-one ground fight, I'd take the dual sabers or dual daggers over any of the other combinations you listed. You'll do more damage.

You can only dual wield weapons of the the same type or a weapon and a gun, there's no mixing. I.E saber and knife.

what about a sword that is a gun too? like a sword that when you swing it, it throws stuff at bad guys.

thats it, what about dual slicers?

There are no slicers anymore.

Rare's are taken off correct? Now whats new to weapons i havent seen anything but normal ones, and will there be mags still ?

REJ-
May 20, 2006, 12:57 PM
Mags are replaced by those PM things. And no, there weren't any rares in the beta.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. There are a couple of weapon types that have yet to be released. One of them is a fan-type weapon that looks like a Flight Fan.

Biggest advantage to using a mixed setup (i.e. Saber/Handgun, Dagger/Gun) is that you'll have 2 active weapons instead of one. This basically means that both your PP meters will be charging at the same time.

Fleece
May 20, 2006, 02:37 PM
No, The handgun and saber have seperate PP bars, you press a button to switch to aiming for the pistol.

Kupi
May 20, 2006, 02:50 PM
Right. And since PP only regenerates on a weapon you have equipped, having a Saber/Handgun mix allows you to keep attacking while the other weapon recharges. Your Handgun runs out, and you can still use Saber Photon Arts, while your Handgun continues to replenish.

well you also get a range and close combat weapon so theres a plus

REJ-

What about dual handguns?

What advantages does that have to a single handgun? (other than looking cool)

Dual-Handguns have one PP bar. When you press the fire button, both of the guns shoot. They allow you to lay down a lot of shots in short order.

I doubt rares have been taken out, so far we've only seen what appear to be the basic beginning weapons. Just enough for the beta.

I doubt they'd do away with slicers either... they've been around since Phantasy Star II.

Anybody have any clue as to what the heck that weapon is on the far right of all the other bigger ranger guns?

Saner
May 21, 2006, 10:35 AM
I guess slicers were too complicated to add, or maybe they thought they would be unbalanced since they have greater range than other blades and can hit multiple foes at once.

a lower power level could balance that advantage but I guess they didn't want to animate such a fast and complex boomerang blade.

or maybe slicers are a really rare type of weapon this time.

but I guess Hunters are already packed with blade categories, that they had no room to fit them. Personally I would trade knuckles for Slicers. hand-to-hand users would use claws instead. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

_Tek_

I think they need slicers because its a classic weapon.

Alisha
May 21, 2006, 05:01 PM
no they dont. yes lets give hunters a powerful ranged weapon undermining rangers

Kyuu
May 21, 2006, 08:32 PM
Slicers, I imagine, would lack the elemental bullet ability of ranged weapons (i.e. they wouldn't be able to freeze/paralyze/burn), and would probably do poorer damage than ranger weapons. The slicer's strength was in it's ability to jump between widely spaced opponents, not its ability to do amazing damage.

I think it would be very easy to implement slicers in a way that wouldn't "undermine" rangers.

_Tek_
May 22, 2006, 12:25 AM
well then give slicers to rangers.

Axios-
May 22, 2006, 02:01 PM
Or forces. If they get bows, then why the hell not?

Saner
May 22, 2006, 02:11 PM
whaat? it wouldnt make sense to give Rangers the Slicers.

they could just make Slicers weaker than Ranger guns. they would still be useful with their multiple targeting and greater range than blades.

but I guess Rangers with Slicers is better than no slicers. but from the looks of it Slicers might not return, unless there are a rare type of weapon.

Axios-

Did we ever figure this one out?

What's Maya holding?

Saner
May 22, 2006, 02:23 PM
lol I thought it might be a slicer but some say it's a crossbow. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I would think a beta tester would know since I have seen videos of a beast partying with Leo, so a Newman must have summoned Maya since she's the Newman npc helper right?

Axios-

Ah, yes, I can see the crossbow there now. Even so, if the crossbow was only recently confirmed by that video, then I wouldn't count slicers out just yet.

Saner
May 22, 2006, 02:28 PM
why would they even bother with a crossbow? isn't a Bow enough?

one or the other is fine but both hogging 2 categories is silly. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I like the massive Beam weapon at the back Lol, i wish they'd put those in the beta. I want to see the damage scale on them, no doubt they have massive PP usage.

Long Bow= Bigger one hit damage, slower firing rate
Cross Bow= Rapid fire, smaller damage.(a primitive mechguns, if you will)
They're different.

If it could also be used as a jet pack it'd be my weapon of choice. Somebody had best tell Sonic Team.

Sonic Team removing features from a sequel? In the words of Dr. Robotnik, "No way! I can't believe this!"

I expect to see slicers, cards, and everything else that hasn't been mentioned thus far in the final version of the game.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone has answered this, but I'm still somewhat confused as to how single PP bar dual equip work (such as 2 sabers or 2 handguns). Are they unique weapons or can I equip Saber X (we'll say "Sange") and Saber Y ("Yasha" obviously) and have a single new weapon called Twin Saber XY? And, if so, can I unequipped one of the sabers to get Saber X and Saber Y back?

removing some features is a good thing.

It would've been a nightmare if Section I.D. returned. or MAGs.

good thing they are replaced with much better features. like the Class system and Partner Machinery. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Yeah, about that.... I think that the class system of PSU is more suitable as the replacement of the the class system of PSO. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cowsleep.gif

Duel wielding adds a who new prespective on weapon possiblities. Though I'm curoius about how the duel wield sabers handle compared to the twin swords in PSO.

Saner
May 28, 2006, 04:22 PM
you mean doublesabers?

Keyeszx
May 28, 2006, 05:08 PM
dual sabers do u mean getting two sabers and equiping them both

MsXiou
May 28, 2006, 05:36 PM
He means dual/twin sabers. Dual means two. Twin sabers or dual wielding sabers means you have a saber in each hand. Same goes for all "dual" weapons. Double sabers on the other hand are twin-headed which means a blade is on each side.

DraginHikari
May 28, 2006, 05:47 PM
Yea that what I was referring to... they were my favorite weapon type in PSO. I was kinda glad to see they're coming back in a different form anyway. I haven't seen a clear picture or video so I was wondering what they're like in this verison

MsXiou
May 28, 2006, 05:59 PM
They look like normal sabers... except double http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Seriously though, they are just normal sabers though there have been pictures of ones that looked like machetes and the like. The sabers will be exact replicas of one another and they will be there own weapon. You can't have a red saber and a blue saber... dual sabers are their own weapon.

DraginHikari
May 28, 2006, 07:01 PM
That much I did know about them... I am aware of how the weapon system works I was more curiousty about attack speed, Photon Arts connectoned to them etc http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
