How safe is it for me to play online these days on the GameCube servers? I don't want to lose my God Arms and my Frozen Shooter and my Demolition Comet. What can I do to avoid losing these items to hackers and fsod?

Bank them before you go online and put them back when you are done and want to go to a lobby. I still do it as a habit and I play mostly offline.

Now here's a question. If I am in a game that is password protected and I'm playing with people I know are legit, is it possible to get FSODed?

well, it is, but chances are slim to none, so i dont think you would have to wrry about that

So, if I'm out hunting with my best weapon, armor and units equipped and I'm in a locked game, in theory I shouldn't loose any of that stuff? I want to be able to hunt with my best equipment, but do not want to loose that stuff.

Hasn't happened to me yet. I use a Frozen Shooter, a Spread Needle, and the Yas9k, so I'd know if I lost any of it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif My best guess is you won't lose any of your stuff.

on PSOGC, the only current way of "pass hacking" is to literally do guess work

this may be different on xbox and BB
