Just posted a few videos which we snagged at this year's E3 expo. A couple have some audible English voiceover work for a number of characters, and there's a lengthy gameplay video as well. I don't think any of them have been posted elsewhere, so enjoy!!

Ah, good videos. The character showcase was incredibly valuable. I rather enjoyed the English voices, and I found Magashi's and Curtz's to be just great. I did not expect Magashi's voice to be like that, and I think it's even much, much better than his Japanese voice. Kudos to Brian Sommer. Curtz, well, maybe his voice wasn't as astounding as I think, but I think he's just a badass in general so I'll give him a nod. I can't wait for the complaints on English voices though.

Good job and thanks for the vids.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but right now I think anyone who hates the English voice acting is bonkers. Maybe it isn't movie-quality, but as video game VAing goes, it's darned good.

A question, since you were right there, Tomeeboy: about that crossbow-looking weapon that Maya was holding (and I think Ethan had one on him as well). What is it? What does it do? Even if the answer is as simple as "shoot bullets", I must know!

It's all pretty good. I couldn't hear them too well, but all the voices sounded spot on to me. I know there will still be parts in the story that'll make me wince, but at least it won't be from bad voice acters. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Yeah I think the Voice acting is pretty decent. It could of been much much worse too of course.

The VAs sound quite good for a video game...
that is next to Final Fantasy 12, http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif.
I've seen the Divine Maiden video. The gameplay looks awesome.

Good - Voice actors are 2/3rds good.
Bad - All the background noise making it hard to hear (just barely able to hear the voices.)

I would have to go in, rip the sound out, edit it (turn treble up and bass down) and then slap it back in. Its what I would do if I have to deal with very loud bassy background noise like that.

For best results with the audio, turn the volume down kind of low on the media player you are using, then crank up your Wave/Master volume. That seems to help the most for me when trying to minimize the distortion from background noise. When I loaded the videos up in Media Player Classic just now, it was blasting out some terrible rumbling background noise... The above suggestion made it MUCH better.

I'm going to try to play with the audio streams a bit tomorrow to see if I can cut out more of the background noise, especially on the character trailer.

Agreed. And yeah, the voice acting is quite good - very good compared to some things. Thank you for putting these up!

It sure is encouraging to see an english version of the game up and running, oh man I hope they release a demo before the fall or would that be asking too much?

Tonnio sounds somewhat familiar; Liina sounds really familiar... as does Lou. Fullyen as well?

I love Renvolt. He sounds kind of like the Borg, except more gutteral.

Lou reminds me of Rei Ayanami. But, that's probably because of her emotionless monotone. (I love her line in the new trailer. "You'd better leave this to me," she says completely straight-faced and emotionless while Ethan looks at her like she's lost her mind. XD) Leogini's voice sounds very familiar to me, but I can't place it. I'm trying to put another character's face to his voice, but I haven't come up with anything yet.

Some of the voices sound pretty good (from what I can hear of them ^_^;) Some sound... <.<... Well! Renvolt sounded great! And Ethan sounded much better than my first impression from the Gamestop trailers... Like... much better! But I still need to hear more... And hear it in context... Some of the clips just didn't seem like they fit in such an upbeat trailer...

Thanks a ton for the videos Tomeeboy! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Now I'm just mad that no other big gaming sites got those trailers! -_-;;;

i was pleased that they used anime-sounding VO for the characters. lol ill have to check again but dude sounded a little Naruto-ish lol. but the only thing that i dint engoy was the background noise... it it 2 much to ask for an entire convention to shut up while we are filming PSU content?

In the IGN videos I can't say I liked what could be heard of the English voice-overs. I remember in Tales of Symphonia, I skipped nearly all dialogue just because I couldn't stand the voices. But.. I think I'm really starting to change my mind. Compared to what I'm used to, this dub is just.. fine.

Lol no way ! - a game with as much expectation as PSU should have its own sound proof room http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif with big HUSH sounds that light up in red neon, when some1 wishes to film it.

Just as I thought, that badass trailer spoils pretty much all of the storyline. Ah well.
At least the game is great and the voice acting good. Renvolt's voice was unexpected, but it's nice. As in "wooooh nice..." nice.

I raelly like Leos, Liinas, Alforts, Renvolts and surprisingly, Ethans voice.

The Vol Brothers are HILARIOUS XD (Or atleast, the one you hear)

I'm starting to think I won't be playing the game with the Japanese voiceover (I'll probably still be annoyed if it's not an option, cause I like those too http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif)

EDIT: The trailer probably wouldave spoiled a lot for me, if I was paying attention to what they were saying. I was only listening to their voices, for their voices, and not what they were saying http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

The gameplay and cutscene videos were taken from the PC version, which looked quite a bit better than the PS2 version on the opposite side of the exhibit. The character trailer was running off an Xbox 360, but I'm sure it was pre-rendered.

wow the punch PA looks like howling fist lol. also it looks like crossbows might be a rare variant of handguns since it looks like they can be dual weilded with a nother one handed weapon and most likely togeher as well.

That's a good point, actually. The demos at E3 all appeared to be running in widescreen (16x9) display modes, including the Playstation 2 version. I think it's safe to assume that they will all support 16x9 and widescreen resolutions.

What little I heard of Karen's voice makes me cringe, but everyone else I could actually hear(Couldn't hear Tylor's or Rutsu's lines) didn't make me want to gouge my eardrums out, even Ethan. I think I like his dub voice BETTER. XP Though whatshisface from the Guardians sounds too young, and the lip movement being so off from the line he has at the beginning is funny. XD

Hmm... speaking of innappropriate ages!

Ethan's Sister, Lumia? I think. She's 13 years old. They did a good job with a 13 year old's voice. My only problem is she doesn't LOOK 13 XD SO I think a yojnger voice would have been more appropriate, like her Japanese voice sounds pretty young.

From the videos I seen, its pretty darn good. The voice acting was great & the gameplay is by far the uprising of PSO/PSU. I can't wait to play it now. I can only play it on the PS2 so I really want to play with people on the PC & (Hopefully) the Xbox 360.

Great videos, they are they are. The Boss fight was a bit of alright, gives us a few tips to fight him. Unless this boss is Story Mode only?
