Invisible shield get:

"Yes, you could actually make someone invisible as long as someone wears a cloak made of this material," said Patanjali Parimi, a Northeastern University physicist and design engineer at Chelton Microwave Corp. in Bolton, Mass. Parimi was not involved in the research.

Such a cloak does not exist, but early versions that could mask microwaves and other forms of electromagnetic radiation could be as close as 18 months away, Pendry said. He said the study was "an invitation to come and play with these new ideas."

"We will have a cloak after not too long," he said.

The Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency supported the research, given the obvious military applications of such stealthy technology.

Oh my.
Wonder how much something like that would cost and exactly how heavy it would be.

I truly do wonder what it would look like to stare at such a cloak... would you truly see right though it? Or would a trained eye be able to tell there was something within the disturbed space? I could only imagine that the light your eyes recieved would be altered in some way...

Wow, that's pretty cool. I'd love to see videos of it in action. Shit, I'd love to slip one on and sneak around a bit.

Yes, nothing is finalized and you'll be damn sure none of you gaming nerds will be the first ones to get your hands on this, hopefully it never will be widely used and commercially sold.

Like the article said, it doesn't exist yet, but the technology to bend the light is there and it eventually will turn into a cloak.

So just imagine the movie Hollow Man and counter measures (such as infared goggles to see heat waves of the person wearing it) to protect yourself from someone who could be using it for harm.
