View Full Version : Global freaking warming

Many parts of Canada did not have winter this year. It was commonplace to have a temp of 14 degrees (celcius) at the beginning and througout January. Aside from the fact that I <3 teh snow, I was pissed that everyone was happy about the warmer weather and because I knew we'd really being paying for it come spring and summer.
It is not even June, yet and it's going to be mid 40's, today!!! WTF, man!! Winter was spring, spring is summer, and God knows summer'll be as hot as Hellfire. ò.ó
And I have to go downtown today, where it's especially hot.

Yay.
Less clothes to wear right?
No packing a jacket/sweater/scarf/gloves/thermal underwear/ski-mask/goggles/umbrella/etc. and being caught in a conundrum when you don't have one.
Just as long as you don't have that sticky humid sweaty heat.

Mid 40's is hot to you?

I've never really kept up with the weather, but when I went to Chicago to watch the Cubs, it was friggin 90s. :l
Hasn't been in the 90s in a long while in my area- seems a bit early too. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Canada uses celsius. 40 Celsius is 104 fahrenheit.
Maybe it was a little warmer in Toronto than Winnipeg, but we still had -40 weather in January, but February was way warmer than usual.
That, and we didn't have snow on the ground that stayed til the end of November, that's weird.

I love a good Hellfire season, I mean that sucks. What can I say: apply some sunscreen?

Unfortunately (in the case of this damned heat wave), I go to a uniform school, so "less clothes to wear" can only be so few.
And yes, it's that sticky humid sweaty heat. I had to peel myself from my bed, this morning. XP

Heat wave. We're getting it, too. It'll be over by the end of the week.

Huh, we set a number of record lows this year and 2005 in Ohio this winter. Right now, yep a heat wave. It's expected and climates fluctuate over the years due to changes in the earth's wobble, sun activity, et cetera. This year we may be over average but nature has its way of finding equilibrium eventually. For reference today will hit 89 (32 Celsius) and that seems a bit odd for this humid continental climate. Though, thinking about it, it is practically June so it really doesn't surprise me much. What I find odd is that San Antonio will only be 33.
it was 30+(°C) three weeks ago the entire week... just 13 last weeks and non stop rain for a week now..
I'm not really worried with the global warming stuff. Yeah, half of the country will be flooded, but it will bring the sea closer to me http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif . But europe may lose the gulfstream thing because of the changing temps and sea level, so it'll be colder here instead of warmer D:
hm, the weather is pretty fucked up, the few snow days we had this winter were in march >.>
But the weather over here has always been quite variable (snow in summer and 30°C in winter and stuff)
evey place has had it extremes (just as every other place in the world >.>)
We'll see how it goes when the dijken(dykes?)and other works can't hold it any longer (which will happen some day, we can't raise them forever). But taking measures now is ofcourse better then doing it on the last moment. It'll be quite expensive to save half of the land, but if we take measures now, it'll cost only a fraction of the huge amount of money it'll cost when everything's flooded =/
but untill the sea rises 250m, I'll be safe ;o (I'll be already dead by then, but still =p )

where i live, around January, i freakin hate it when it gets there...this year, January 14th it snowed...January 16th it was 70 degrees (Farenhite) and then a week later it was like 20 again, it was so "stupid", and now its starting to get really hot

Its been in the 80s this week where I'm at but last week it was high 90s. It was soooo horrible, and we don't have air conditioning.>.< I had to buy two fans to stay cool but I was still sweating!
I'm afraid of how the weather is gonna be in mid June and July.

I don't tend to worry about stuff I don't plan to be alive for. Thats assuming it happens about 80+ years from now.
When we run out of fossil fuels, I'll probably be alive, so something like that worries me a bit. So it's not that I don't care, per se >_>

Quote has nothing to do with my reply.
Which part of Canada are you in? It has been rain and cloudy and I had to dig out my thicker jacket for all this week.
That being said tho. We know that we are all gonna die at one point or other due to things we bring on ourselves. And no one seem to care. :<

Where i'm from, right now it's about 101 degrees Farenheight. It was really weird because we had a really big storm last night. Now, it's back to being really frickin hot, and our pools are filled with old people. So i'm in my house enjoying the "coolest" thing around.....the AC. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Global Warming is a natural phenomenon.
It would happen anyway, but Humans are most definitely making it worst/making it happen faster. Highly likely that a heat wave will cause an ice age as well. Ouch.

Being Canadian I was talking about Celsius, but this dude is talking about Farenheight.
At least I hope so. XD

Well, I love the heat. Plus, I never get warm... its my thing. I live in Georgia and I'm still wearing a long sleve shirt. The hotter the better, because I've got to lifeguard all day, and if I have to dive in I want it to be warm!

The one thing I can't understand about 'global' warming is: why is it that some countries have experienced their coldest winters in a long time?
K-Morfos

Similar experiences here this year. Where I live, there was a terrible droubt with hardly any rain. And this June, temperatures ranged all the way from the 70s to the 90s. Generally during June, the wealther is cooler, high 60s lower 70s. Also, June was very sunny. Generally where I live, the weather is very cloudy during that month.
