First I'm curious who else plans on getting JP PSU.

Second... are there any translation compilations? I saw translations but i didn't see them compiled anywhere. the reason i ask is i plan on getting JP PSU and i don't read JP so i'm gonna need a few basics translated...

Well first off, Yup I'll be joining you on the JP version. Though now we've learnt the servers arent international I may be switching to my U.K version later.

Secondly, most people on these boards (including myself) would be happy to help yuo out and explain the menu's ect. But I would also suggest gathering some independant knowledge yourself, pehaps if you have other japanese games try learning the menu's ect yourself from them. Often many gaming terms are shared.

And on that subject:

Read and learn it as well as possible. Most of the time katakana and hiragana will get you through everything. Also try researching some basic Kanji's.

Hope that helps ^_^

You can expect menu translations for when the game is officially released. The reason that there were none for the beta was because all the beta besters were too busy playing PSU with what little time we had to bother with the translating of menu. You can expect guides for the general menu(simple mail, etc), partner machines, and shops.

Have you even tried searching the site?... (http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=listarticles&secid=206)
Anyway, in my opinion it wouldn't be useful to make translation guides for just about everything (such as shop contents)... especially since it's just not really doable to get by without learning katakana anyway. It's not like it would take all that long to learn, either.

no way LOL! I learned long ago that importing these types of games is soooooo irritating in another language.

the language barrier is just too thick to fully enjoy it without feeling so detached, sooo oblivious to what many of the functions do and what NPCs are saying and stuff like that. Even translation f.a.q.s. are not enough to feel at peace with the import.

I would go crazy playing the import version. I mean so crazy I might even go ahead and snap the import disc in half. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

I take it you haven't seen the newest site section addition:
http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=listarticles&secid=206

With EspioKaos's help, I'm working on trying to put together guides for most of the major menus in the game. The section is currently under heavy construction. You can expect additional guides/guide expansions in the future.

That's very cute and helpful for importers.

I'm sure they'll appreciate it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

I've had my pre-order on an import for quite a while now. Provided you will be able to pay with non-JP credit cards I'll definitely be online. Once the domestic version is released, I'll definitely be making the jump to that, though. I figure I'll just be playing on the JP version for a nice taste of the game. I doubt I'll go super crazy with levelling or trying to make the perfect character or anything until the domestic version is released. But who knows, PSO/U addiction works in crazy ways :)

I know there are a couple people that are going to try obtaining Net-Cash cards for those who want to attempt to register SegaLink to play JP PSU Online.

I may join these providers, given one of my 'sources' pulls through with the goods. I want to see as many importers on PSU Online as possible.

just take 2 weeks to learn how to read katakana and it will help you a lot more than you'd think.
most of pso/psu is in english, actually. once you can read katakana, you can understand it.

*Shrugs* Personally I don't see any reasons not to just wait for a local verison. Other then impatience.

well i knew that there were translations... just not that there was compilations of those translations...which is why i asked.

I do know a bit of romanji, but i don't really have time to study or figure out most of it ^.^

I'm going to get it if i can pay for it which means i'll wait for confirmation of a way to pay before i order it and i'll learn as i play the rest or just figure it out. heck, after a while pso can be completely played with radar and memorizig your menu ^.^ so PSU shouldn't be that big of a prob since i don't plan on messing with much of the story, but rather trying to pick up as much info as i can about it game play wise as quickly as possible ^.^

and no i did not search because every time i search for something i get something completely different than what i want lol
