How many of you people are going to get the Xbox version of PSO?

So far I only know of a couple of you that are getting it (Abdur and Merlin).

Anybody else who is getting the Xbox version speak up so we can see who is going to be there.

Count me in guys.

Battle mode could really profit from the broadband of Xbox live. I never got to like it a lot because of lag.

I believe I'll be getting the Xbox version, if what we've heard is true (no extra fee, etc.). Still hoping there'll be a keyboard that works at launch.

X-box LIVE has voice chat. PSO-X uses voice chat, and I think they had plans for a keyboard to be released sooner or later. I'm sure a third party will release one.

No worries badmav, hopefully we'll get the chance to play =)

I'm in the Xbox Live Beta, and I can tell you guys from experience, the thing plays virtually lag-free.

Not once have I enountered any sort of lag in MotoGP, with 16 people racing, and some talking, it ran very smooth (even though you can only hear the three people nearest you, probably to preserve that laglessness).

I can imagine PSO being less laggy when everyone playing is on broadband, and Battle Mode will undoubtedly benefit as well.

Does anyone know how exactly you would "talk" in a lobby. To me, it would seem like complete chaos having like, 30 some people all talking at once.

I know I'm getting the Gamecube version, and I might get the X-box version as well, but probably not right near release, I rather hear/check it out first. Honestly, I barely know anything about PSO for X-box. o_O;

You can mute people, and I'd much rather have 30 people talking than 30 people shouting in all caps "LOL!!!!!!!11!!1".

Besides, it's not like everyone is going to be an idiot and scream into the mic at once in an effort to say something, you just mute the people who are being annoying or cutting into a conversation, and continue.

The specifics have yet to be released, but they might have introduced something that the farther away you are from other players in the lobby(since lobbies can be cluttered with people), the lower their voice is and after they are so far away, you might not even hear them.

I doubt they'd keep it the same once you actually got to Ragol and P2, since there's only 4 people max talking at once, so there would'nt really be a big restriction on how far away they were, since there's only ever 4 people present.

30 people voice chatting at once would prolly make the game start to lag out, and Kent already said that in Moto GP you can only ever hear three people closest to you.

No doubt it will all be ironed out for release. And if it isn't, oh well, enjoy what we're given, yeah? =)

It's stated rather clearly in the Xbox Live Code of Conduct (yes, there is one) that if you tend to scream into the mic or use a lot of profanity, racially/sexually offensive language, or stalk people, your account can be muted temporarily (meaning you can't talk whatever game you're playing).

And also if anyone is cought cheating anywhere where it isn't allowed by the game/room creator, your account will be temporarily suspended or banned. You can also report malicious/cheating/stalking/whatever players.

Also in MotoGP, you can hear everyone talking before and after a race, but not during the race.

I don't think I'm allowed to talk about much else publically. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_innocent.gif

Battle Mode isn't exactly Counterstrike. You would pretty much be limited to saying these 3 things.

"Kill Him!"
"Heal Me!"
"I'm Dead!"

Your opponent would probably just shout
"Owned!" over, and over again.

I don't know about anyone else but if a guy held up a sign that said "Ur a fag." I would think it was pretty funny, but if somebody actually said "You're a Fag." Id probably get violent. Now remove the ability to inflict bodily harm on your antagonist, and you are presented with two choices, kick the nearest dog, or powerbomb your X-Box through your TV.

While the whole everyone has to use Broadband thing is nice, I don't know if I can wait another two or three months, but if the GC PSO flounders, than I will probably pick up the X-Box version.

But Microsoft said it would be some time in November, according to the front page news.

Let's hop it's true.

Front page news where? PSO World? That release timeframe (date) hasn't been officially set from Microsoft that I have seen. I have only seen one or two guys from different places stating that they "heard" the news from a Microsoft Rep... and THAT news has been spread around as the truth.

I do know that Naka said Microsoft has the game right now, so they could release it whenever. But the deal is... why are they waiting for so long if they plan on releasing it in November? How will they get the word out that PSO will also be on the XBox right after the Gamecube one gets released... the advertising should already be going for it...

Is Microsoft waiting for the GC one to be released so people will buy that and Sega can get their money from that... then Microsoft will spring, "Here is our version of PSO and no monthly fee!!" type of deal?

Doesn't really matter... I will probably wait for the XBox version even though I am stuck on dialup and I really have no plans on online play... or maybe I will breakdown and get the GC version... with the modem adapter and $9/month... even though THAT SUCKS!... maybe.

Obviously.

Because Xbox Live is still in it's beta phase and officially launches in November.

Do you remember how much advertising there was for the Dreamcast and GameCube versions of PSO?

VERY little, most people heard about the game from articles in magazines (not ads) and I don't remember seeing any TV ads in America for them.

Nice going for not understanding what I typed...

The news on the front page of PSO World is just a rumor that was posted on another site... like I said before.
Microsoft has not said anything about the release date PSO for the US... and their reps will say anything. And according to how I see the "the MS rep told me.. blah blah blah..." I see it as the rep just mentioning it might happen. I talked to a MS rep at a Walmart while they were there changing out signing and they knew nothing about PSO in November... He said next year.

There is no OFFICIAL news about the XBox version of PSO.. anywhere... Let me restate that... NO WHERE.(regarding the release date)

Anyone with a brain would think that Microsoft would at least let retailers (EBgames.com, gamestop, amazon) know if they were going to release it in November just so they could put a link up for it.

I hope it does come out in November so I dont have to wait for it.

Tycho, over at Penny Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com), mentioned this week about going to a Microsoft Xbox Live event. An invitation only affair.

My other question was stickier, and they couldn't properly answer it because nobody really knows yet. I was curious about additional charges. Most games aren't going to have extra charges associated with playing them, or even getting new content at release. But for a massively multiplayer game, or PSO... Do you need a fee on top of your Xbox Live payment to play Star Wars Galaxies or get Hunter's License, let's say? He (or, Andre) agreed that something like Galaxies would probably have a charge associated with it, but it might be less than it would on the PC. As for PSO, he didn't know. This is because it isn't Microsoft that sets those rates. If a developer wants to charge for their game monthly, they can. If they want you to be able to play free, but get new maps on a pay basis, they can do that. If they want to give out play and maps but just charge for player models, they can do that. The idea (as they see it) is to create an infrastructure that will attract developers and publishers, and we'll know just how effective they've been in the next few months.
