Is there any sign of cheating in the improt GC version? I hope sega worked with Gameshark and Codebreaker to not allow these devices to work. Does anyone know how Sonic team planned or is planning to combat cheating? Thats my biggest fear because the DC versions were ruined not only by cheating, but by lamers NOLing people left and right and even crshing rooms.

Well there is that glitch but that's not really a hack, sense they are patching that up. Um, nothing yet. It's just to darn early. I thought that the game shark was delayed because of the gc disk size....or ...something like that. But i'm prob wrong about that last part, like always anyways. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

What glitch would that be?

It is the dupe bug in the JP version of ep I&II. Don't worry, the US version will be fixed, and they are also going to release a fixed version of the JP game. The fixed games and "dupe" games will be on differant servers so that type of cheating will be cut off.

Thats good that Sega is doing somthing about it. Seems like they didn't do much about PSOV2 cheating.

It's just sad though. I went online the other day. Oberon lobby 1(the ghetto of PSO) was pretty much empty. so where most of the other ships.

They friggin better be on top of cheating and hacking in PSO. If I'm paying 9 dollars a month, I was hella good service.

Well the majority of the cheaters were basically people who used codes from cheat devices. Since i dun see anyone complaining about it for the jp end then i assume that theres no off the shelf way to do any damage to the game. The only threat that gc pso has is people who are reasonably educated in coding and such and would have to use the pc itself in someway to circumvent safeguards or find holes(there will be holes) in the code to capitalize on. It takes a decent amount of dedication to pull something off like that so i doubt the same guys who werent willing to put any dedication into finding rare items that roam the pso lobbies threatining ppl/pking and stealing their drops and so on will be the same people who are able do anything to gc pso.

It is impossible to code a game bug-free. There will definately be bugs. It's merely a matter of time until they are found and exploited.

In fact, I already know plenty of bugs in PSO GC that have been around since PSOv1!

The fact of the matter is, Sonicteam is lazy. Here's proof: The online client in PSO GC still recognizes the team "leader" with a green gem.

When you create a team, you're given a ID number. The leader (team creator) for the online client is green, when it should be red.

The actual "leader" gem is red (00), not green. Play the game offline and compare. It's a simple bug which could've been fixed (changing a number from "01" to "00", anyone?), but like I said, Sonicteam are lazy.

In fact, one of the most destructive bugs on PSOv1/v2 DC wouldn't have worked if they had coded this simple operation correctly.

Is it safer? Yes... For now.

There has been no official statement that ST will fix
JP PSO.
If you have read so, please point out a link.
(If tomorrow the jp version is fixed, new jp players can't play with the 100,000 players already online in japan. And no recall of older disks has been announced)

It means Us players won't be able to play with jp ones.
Which is a bad thing in my opinion.
