No

Online characters can only be used online, and offline (Extra mode) characters only offline

Yes... online characters are server side and strictly online, Extra Mode (Offline) can only be used offline and I assumed saved on the memory card.

You only play as the Pre-made character Ethan Waber for the offline story.

There's also Extra Mode where you can make a character. You can't bring him online though.

An English version of Sega Link does not exist yet.

What you will probably need is about 1-2 MB worth of space on your memory card for online patches. That's how the closed beta put out stuff back in May, and these patches would get replaced very once in a while.

can you use the sega link account for both english and japanese?

just theratically what would you think?

Somehow I would guess no just by theory. Sega Link in JP doesn't take anything outside of JP credit cards, I assume if SoA uses SegaLink it won't be much different... can't say for sure.

i wouldent want to join all the servers cus then we would have all the JP's writin and we wouldent be able to read what they say. its vice versa

If there is an English version of SegaLink, I stronly doubt you'd be able to use your Japanese account on the English version. An English version would most likely use a completely seperate database.

Realistically speaking, I imagine Sega of America will use something other than SegaLink for the English and European versions of the game.

I could see it being tied to the PlaySega system, honestly. It's already there and working.
Just speculation, though.

At this point, we can't say for sure. I honestly doubt there will be built-in language packs though.

I wouldn't count on that release date. It sounds probable at this point with the JP version's release date at the end of August but I've sen that date too... on a retailer site. I wouldn't believe anything until the developer announces it. The retailers have had MANY different dates on when the US PSU was coming out.
