Hard to say, but anything with rapid fire makes me randy, so probably mech guns. I've always been partial to rifles, though if launchers are anything like I'm expecting they'll probably replace most of my arsenal... XD

I won't go through all my characters, cuz that'll take a while, but here's what my main character will most likely use:

Hunter: Dual Sabers
Ranger: probably Dual Mechguns or Dual Handgun
Force: Staffs

Now that I think of it shotgun, crossbow or just a bow, spear, and dual claws. Well since characters can use every weapon now, if possible, I'll just buy every weapon. But put most of my money into the weapons I choosed

Whatever weapon is most effective for dealing with the situation at hand. If I had to pick something to level first though, it'd be rifles. Good multi-situation weapon.

wow i really dont know quite yet but here are my guesses

Newman: dual sapers, twin saber, rod/bow at times
Human: rifle, dual handgun, mix weaps, spear, shotgun
Cast: dual mechgun, rifle, shotgun, cannon, launcher
Beast: sword, dual claw, fists

but i cant really say till i stat playing the game and develop favorites. oh, an dfor those who wonder how i will juggle 4 chars on PSU, my little bor and i each have 12 chars on PSOX, a total of 24, so i think 4 will be a bit easier <(^_^<)

I mean yes it's true as far as we know, mechguns can no longer be dual wielded, but we never know what the final version may hold.

Spears. Hands down. Hope you can use them more than just the actual cutting end: Like you see in almost every game, you only stab or slash with a spear, as opposed to stab the opponent and then sweep their legs (if any) with the blunt end. Whipping out a Dynasty Warriors-esque combo attack would just be jaw-dropping.

Considering how quickly you can burn through a mechgun's PP, maybe it's a blessing not to be able to dual-wield them. =P

That still upsets me a lot... Will there be a variant? Like where Mechguns are one-handed, will they have a "big brother" to them that's two-handed but also rapid fire? I certainly hope so...

You have to keep in mind that the ranged gameplay in PSU is very different from PSO. There are no combos, so even with one mechgun you can lay down a constant stream of fire. This isn't recommended, however, as you will run out of PP before you can finish exlaiming "Wheee!"

If I ever feel like making a ranger, I'd have to go with a Bow. I'm interested to see how that would work.
