How do you split

Use an untekked weapon. Use the special twice, then hit it with a light attack.

The whole point is to have the first two hits miss, then hit him with the third hit.

You could split it by using a technique attack such as Rafoie or Rabarta.

HUcaseals can't use Teches. (Unless you cheated) They don't have TP.

go for the 'hit them with an untekked weapon's special'-tactic.

You can do it with any weapon. Whatever weapon you have equipped, press the appropriate button to perform a normal or special attack and immediately hit the button that allows you to go to your sub-sets (Usually L or R). Your going to make the motion of shooting the gun but nothing with come out, on the end of the combo finish with a normal attack.
