Rare Weapons. Appearance? or Power? (poll)

I think it would be best if rares don't overdo it with their power advantages.

Rares are best as good weapon that look unique and stuff like that. cause the appearance is really what makes it more of a rare than what it can do, or something like that. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

but ya overall statistics show people prefer to use what's best than what looks better. This is similiar to classes how most people want the best advantages overall, while others play with any combination they want.

It's aesthetics for me all the way, if it happens to have a buttload of power associated with it, then all the better. I never used the Spread Needle all that much, actually not at all since y'see... As long as they dont make rares that are completely inferior to their normal weapon versions (inferno bazooka, power maser) then I'd go with looks over stats

For me, it's gotta look good, great Photon Capacity and is a type that I'm compatible with. A weapon can be as strong as it wants but if the PAs that correspond to said type is unwieldy or low power, I won't use it; also won't use it if the PP capacity is extremely poor. (poor capacity=poor regeneration as well)

I guess to sum it up, I'm more of a technical player. As long as the weapon isn't considered too weak, I'll usually look at other stats than just power. (I'm the type of person who would give up a Vivienne on PSOBB for a PoL because of range and speed)

In my oppinion, rares should just look more unique than normal weapons. Like have slick looking rifle that shoots slender icicle-like bullets that leave a frosty trail behind them, but stat wise it's just a slightly upgraded ice element rifle. I'd rather that the basic weapons weren't severly outclassed, though.

I think the complete opposite.


The power is what makes it RARE and SOUGHT AFTER. If it just looks flashy and does crap damage, what's the big deal? Sure, having a cool-looking weapon is nice, but to me it means nothing if it's not worth all the trouble I went through to get it.

I'm going for all aesthetics. I want to look as good as possible. Eventually, I'll care a tad more about power but I just want to look good for the mostpart.
As for rares, I'll only try to collect them if they either look good with my avatar or has a great special effect that goes with my persona.

I think power. spread needle was crap (my legit kings one was ok though). I'd like to see a bigger difference between common weapons and rare weapons. Sometimes common weapons were stronger ftw. Imo rare should be over powered.

They emit a barrage of ‘sonic boom’ type of waves as a special attack – Double Cannon has 4-ways, whoo!

The Lavis Cannon? Oh yeah it's available offline, take a look at the bottom of that page I linked to see which of the beasties of Ragol it drops off. lol. there should be ONE Rare weapon that dominates all. meaning there will only be one of them which will be found by a certain task of missions and heavy researching with the CLUES left by the Sega Team. this will surely make EVERYONE look for it and hunt for this rare weapon. HUNTING!! That would be FUN!!!!! First one to find it, will be the only one to find it.

I think Looks are a big part of it. But, you need power,just not so much that you kill all enemies in one shot.Leaving no exp. for other players.

as for the lavis debate the blades were the best fast, quick recovery after combo and the just ruled!

back on topic i go with looks, i just LOVE the come on gun!! and its twin variant. i think wepons like the vahra claw which you can get and use pretty early (if you get the kubara wood from relics) are the way forward, they look like NO OTHER claws in the game so far, ok they havent got super stats but hey they are vahra's arms. wepons like the svaltus sword are hard to get but simple to make (if you have all the bits its easy, but have you got the bits???) and that in itself is a draw to get the weponas it takes some serious hunting to get the 3 kubara wood and the board, hopefully the sword WILL own but i aint got one yet so i cant say.

Personally, I never spend my time item/rare hunting, I just like killing monsters and hey, maybe I'll accidentally find something good while I'm at it - otherwise I just get frustrated at my lack of finding anything and forget to enjoy the game =)
The only time in my life I found a really rare item was in RO when I strolled into a particular dungeon on a whim and got Emperium off of the first undead orc I killed lol, that was an extremely rare bout of luck for me, but if I did get a rare weapon, I would go for looks! =D

the lack of rares (well good rares anyway, how many DB's,Varistas,Flowens did you get? now how many TJS's? ) is what lead to PSO being hacked so much. as for the lavis family you had lavis canon (saber) add a synescea(sp) lavis blade (daggers) add another synescea double cannon (twin saber, stagg cutlery style) all 3 had the force wave special which would kill you hehehe.

as i said earlier in the thread unique weps (kubara) are pretty easy to get hold of IF the right items are dropped (i got 8 white gloves(makes come on guns) in 6 runs of lvl 15 train in parum, but ive only got 1 kubara wood(relics box) so far with that char). and the kubara bow (bat wing one) is dropped quite easily in neudiaz, the come on guns can be gotten form boxes in the temple easily, however the svaltus board still eludes me as does neta notebooks (i think they will synth death dancers and the single saber version)
