What determines the look of the sword is the brand on the sword.

Your image link is not working for me.

In any event, the manufacturer of the weapon will decide its general shape and stats. In closed beta, three different brands of swords were available.

In PSU, there are companies that manufacture weapons. The maker of the weapon will often have an impact on the weapon's looks and stats.

There are three deciding factors in a weapons looks, as far as we know from the beta.

First - the photon colour. This dictates whether the weapon has any elemental affinity. For example a sword with red photon may have a 15% fire attribute doing an extra 15% damage to creatures weak to fire.

Secondly - the body/metalwork colour. This dictates the rarity of the weapon, I believe it starts at Red and progresses up to Orange?

Lastly - The shape/design of the weapon refers to which company made the weapon. So far we know of three companies, The names of which I'm not positive but I believe they are
-G.R.M
-Tenora
-Youmei

Each of these brands create weapons with slightly different stats. For example G.R.M weapons have the most balanced stats.
Tenora weapons however have slightly more ATP and ATA than their G.R.M counterpart, however they also have slightly less PP points for use on the weapon. Youmei have the highest PP points, but have the lowest ATP and their ATA is in between G.R.M and Tenora.

Hope that explains it alittle better, and if any beta players notice somethig incorrect please go ahead and correct me.
^_^

Its a Youmei sword, It has higher Photon Power and Accuracy than the other swords but deals less damage.

Does that work both ways? If an enemy is resistant to fire, will a fire elemental weapon do less damage (compared to say, a neutral weapon of the same make/model)?
