Despite it not being that obvious, SonicTeam updated the official PSU website today. First, they updated the premiere disc section (http://phantasystaruniverse.com/premiere/) with some additional ways of getting your name thrown into the drawing for the disc. Here's a rundown of each method.

Enterbrain (Famitsu magazine) - 3,000 names to be drawn
MediaWorks (various Dengeki magazines) - 2,000 names to be drawn
SOFTBANK Creative (GameMaga) - 100 names to be drawn
SEGA direct - 2,000 names to be drawn

Apparently you can enter the SEGA direct drawning by completing a survey. However, you must have an SD account in order to take the survey.

For the other part of this update, a new campaign is being held at SEGAlink, Ready for PSU (http://segalink.jp/campaign/psu/) campaign. Running from 07.06 until 07.31, all participants will recieve a sepcial in-game item, a Sonic figurine to display in their character's room. And by taking a survey, you'll be entered into a drawing to recieve a special PSU-themed NetCash card. Only 300 names will be selected. Also, anyone who takes this survey will receive a free download of a PSU screensaver. From the looks of it, this appears to be the same screensaver that's currently on the official site.

Is the premire disc only for PS2? I'd want a shiny nice box for my PC.

they should really make this game for game cube and the Wii, because it is a SEGA game -.-

Yeah, just for PS2. SonicTeam probably wanted to give PS2 gamers a chance to get in on the fun of a trial since the closed beta from April was PC-only.

That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.

As usual, all existing SL account holders need not reapply for the campaign; it's already done for you.

that doesn't make sense.

Sega is a 3rd party game developer/publisher, like Midway and Capcom, they have no exclusive alligiance with any system.

besides Gamecube's sad history of sales shows companies are better off making more money on PS2 and PC than wasting resources on a Nintendo system. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Again, I'll leave it to someone else on this site to beta test the game, I'll just sit back an wait for the real game.... while enjoying some screen shots and movie clips from those that get in ^.^

I wouldn't really say that's the issue more so that the online options and designs for the Gamecube were rather limited. I think there were only a few other titles other then PSO that used the funcution. The Gamecube kinda had a rough life but I wouldn't say that companies are wasting resources by involding themselves with a nintendo system

PS2 has had oh... a few more titles online then the gamecube mostly FFXI as the main one to my knowledge. Same amount of options just currently more PS2s floating around that's about it.

As far as the Wii from what I've heard they're currently using their Wifi that they used for the DS for the Wii which is a free server that was design for that purpose. I don't really know how a third-party server would operate on that setup only time will tell anyhoo.

It looks like once again the world outside of japan is being forgotten as usual. I swear japanese businessmen must think the world outside Japan is some fictional world like middle earth or something dont they realize millions of EU and US PS fans would like to see these kind of promotions to?

Snarkiness aside, I do believe Dhylec was referring to the three new methods of getting into the PS2 beta, not the Sonic figurine. Originally, the only methods available were by entering through a mail-in form in an issure of Famitsu magazine or by submitting an online entry at Famitsu.com. Since then, SEGA have been revealing more methods.

The only way you're going to get into this, is to look up every Japanese auction site, hope someone is crazy enough to sell their copy, prepare to pay an exorbitant price and hope you have a place to get it delivered to if they don't ship internationally.

PS2 demo disks are harder to get into than PC betas.

yup yup that version will definitely be more hacker proof! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Hmm? Why? If this demo disc is meant for Playstation 2-users, and the japanese server is not going to be linked to the foreign ones, why should foreign Phantasy Star-fans who mostly do not understand japanese get japanese demo discs anyway?

I do admit I'd like to live in Japan since I like Japanese Video games a lot lol Plus the games released there are so full of stuff like this case with PSU XD (Not to mention most instruction booklets are in full color o _ o; ) I wouldn't move just for that though. Anyways, even though its cool, I wouldn't go as far as too BUY a silly demo disk O_o As for importing, I'm all for it http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif you get to play it before and its fun. I don't really import to show off or anything really >_> Anyways I watch Japanese TV shows all the time, plus I listen to Japanese music most of the time so I'm used to having an idea of what's going on, but other people aren't really up for that

As far as us people in the western hemisphere not getting extras like that... I agree that we don't get nearly as half as much stuff, though it has improved somewhat. Thing is, I'm not even sure if its Sega of Japan who decides stuff like that >_> if I'm not mistaken its Sega's subsidiaries over here that make those decisions (the same ones that make our instruction booklets b&w >:( ) Also, its because of the bad publishing companies do over here that some great games do not get their adequate recognition sometimes :/

As a side note, I dunno who would want to live in Tokyo >_> I like the country more lol I can just take a train to Tokyo <_<;

Well, they want to make it for the Wii and production-wise that isn't too bad.And I felt they were leaving GCN PSO1,2,and 3 owners in the dust after giving them all those and then not making it for the Wii.But for right now,PC,360,and PS2 are the only ways.

P.S.Did you know the GameCube had more power than the PS2 and XBox,but few developers (other than Nintendo)made their games strong enough.Ex.Resident Evil 4 on the GCN looked better than the PS2 version and the PS2 version was already close to max power for it.
