Servers Cross platform?

Hello

Awhile back I remember reading (if I'm correct) that the servers wouldn't be linked across all gaming platforms. Well I was wondering if this has changed recently, as I couldn't find any info to confirm or deny my question.

So simply put, will the 360, PC and/or PS2 be sharing the same servers. Personally I would love them to, as I'm dubious about the online population with the platform I would go with (Xbox 360).

It is confirmed that PS2 and PC are going to be connected, and it was revealed that the XBox 360 was going to be on its own, seperate servers. In an interview with a PSU producer, it was said that the decision to keep the XBox 360 on seperate servers had not been finalized yet, but its probably going to be the way things end up.

It was never revealed that Xbox 360 was on it's own for the final release. What has been said in the past has no bearing anymore since ST themselves said 'the decision is not finalized yet'. Period.

It is not confirmed that the 360 will be alone. Alright? Fact is fact, take it or leave it.

A producer said in an interview that the decision is not finalized and could be changed, but, as it stands now, the servers are seperate.

Alright, but it's still clear that the Xbox 360 isn't as of yet going to be absolutely 100% solitary. It was for a while, but ST is reconsidering.

Ultimately chances are that the X-box360 is going to be seperate from the PC/PS2 users.

The "article" to which you refer is the interview with producer Takao Miyoshi, and here's the relevant clip from that interview:

PSOW: Let's talk about the different platforms that PSU will be available on. It was recently announced that PSU would be released for the Xbox 360. We found out shortly afterwards that the plan was to have the Xbox 360 servers separated from the PC and PS2 servers, which have already been confirmed to be linked. Has this decision been finalized?

Takao Miyoshi: It is actually something that is not finalized.

(At this point, we expressed our concern over having the community split up between platforms. Miyoshi-san seemed to understand the concern. We felt that it was good news that this decision has not been finalized yet, as it indicates that they may be reconsidering their previously revealed stance on the Xbox 360 servers. However, we didn't receive any further information on this particular topic.)
As you can see, while it provides hope that they may be reconsidering the decision, all that was said is that it's not finalized. I don't want to extinguish everyone's hopes that the three platforms will be linked, but... since the interview, there has been zero word on any change of plans, and as the game's release gets closer, it only becomes less and less likely. They're not going to suddenly change their mind the day before release. They have to plan out the infrastructure for all the servers and implement them, which takes time.

Odds are, that if no word is heard by the end of July. Its not going to happen, period. As Kyuu said, it takes time, and time in this case, is on a grand scale of housing several thousand people on servers that have yet to be configured.

Come to think of it, if it's tough to link them, they might as well keep Xbox360 separate.

Anyway i do not care about linking platforms. It would be cool if all 3 were linked because more people would play. But now because of people like dan, i would rather have 360 seperate. Saner probably has made the best topics, and has been the most help to people in the psu forums. She/he really knows his/he stuff.
Anyway i don't have xbox360, i'll be getting psu for ps2 or PC. So pm if you were serious Carlo

Well this puts me in a large bind, as I was hopin to start on pc at my freand pc then going to my 360 when it came out for it. Also puts me more in a bind as Sega pulls Favoritism Allot on content and items.

If it's left out, we better not get our backs turned by ST. If we have a smaller user base than thought PSU360 would have, we can all blame that it's because they disconnected us from the rest of our community. If they SKIMP on us because of the outcome of their choice to seperate us (lower psu360 users than expected), I won't be happy with ST one bit.

I this a joke? Xbox 360 users will be most affected by the choice to be seperated because we would (and likely will, taking STs mentality into consideration) end up gettng shafted as with PSOX. I don't know if I'll keep paying 10-15 cdn a month for a backseat version of PSU.

i think that it would be cool for all the versions to get linkage because this would open up the possibilty of all the versions having voice chat and typing. a regualr usb keybaord is enough for the 360. my cousin uses one for his ffxi.

but i don't think that it is going to be really st's fault if the game isn't linked. i think that xbox live is a closed thing and not to many games can be linked with anything because of live. like madden.

PSU is not run over Xbox Live. Neither is FFXI.

If PSU 360 is seperated, I assume they could lay off everything to Xbox Live, but they wont. PSOX wasn't like that, was it.
